Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Eversole, 62 Bella Casa, were in Middle Point, Ohio, last Sunday and called on his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Eversole. Mrs. Irene Gable, of Fort Wayne, was a caller in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Bell Lengerich, 17 Krick St., last Friday afternoon. Also Father Bollinger of the Hassen Cassel Catholic church. Mr. and Mrs. Clois Reinhart and sons Butch and Lee, of Pleasant Mills, were Sunday dinner guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhart, 58 Bella Casa, after which they took a sightseeing trip through Monroeville, Rockford, Ohio and other points of interest, returning via Pleasant Mills. Mrs. Gene Wilson and daughter, 74 West St. Ext., visited her sister, Mrs. Sharon Swan in Columbus, Ohio, last Saturday and Sunday. She was accompanied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Rice of Delphos, Ohio. Mrs. Cleta Drake, 40 Star Lane, received a phone call from her son, Danny, at Lockland Air Base in Texas. He expects to be s<»n transferred to Chanute Air Base near Chicago. Ray Ball of Elm St. spent from Thursday until Saturday with his sister, Mrs. James Lough, 19 Krick St. Mrs. Lois Ball and daughter of Schirmeyer St., were also Sunday guests. Attempt To Murder Gen. Walker Fails DALLAS (UPD — A bullet from a high-powered rifle whizzed through a window Wednesday night, narrowly missing former Maj. Gen. Edwin A. Walker who was sitting at a desk filling out his income tax. The bullet bored a one-inch hole in the wall and fell out on the other side on some packages. Splinters from the bullet’s casing struck Walker in the arm. want,.a purple heart,” aaid Walker, who was not seriously injured. t Walker grabbed a pistol and made a search for the would-be assassin. Communion Service Al Zion United A candlelight communion service will be held in the Zion United Church of Christ, Third and Jackson streets, Good Friday at 7:30 p.m. The service will be in charge of the pastor, the Rev. William C. Feller, who will preach the sermon on the theme, “Three Crosses on Calvary.” The senior choir, under the direction of Miss Gretchen Gallagher, will sing, “There Is a Green Hill Far Away” by Gounod, arranged by Wood. Mrs. J. Fred Fruchte will serve at the organ and will play “When On the Cross the Saviour Hung,” by Fischer, for the prelude, and “Parting,” by Mendelssohn, for the postlude. Good Friday afternoon the congregation will cooperate with the other Decatur churches in the union three-hour service which will de held in this church, and is sponsored by the Associated Churches of Decatur. The theme so rthe service will be, “Faces Around the Cross,” and seven local ministers will bring a message on seven personalities connected with the passion of our Lord. Easter Sunday services will begin with the union sunrise service at 6 a.m. in the First Methodist church, with young people from the Decatur churches participating in the service and Dennis Bollenbacher bringing the message. A breakfast for the young people of Zion Church will be held in the church dining room at 7:15 a.m. Members of the confirmation class will be special guests. Church school sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and all families are invited to be present. The festival service of worship will begin at 10 a.m. with the pre.hide, “Christ Is Now Rysen Agayne,” harmonized by Bach, with Mrs. Fruchte at the organ. The choir and confirmation class will join in the processional. Miss Gretchen Gallagher will sing, “Open the Gates of the Temple,” by Knapp. The senior choir, under the direction of Miss Gallagher, will sing, “King All Glorious,” by Vail. The affertafy will be “Chorale: My Redeemer Liveth Yet,” by Cruger - Schreiner, and the postlude will be. “Song of Triumph," by Grosvenor. The Easter message by the pastor will be based on the theme, “The Triumphant Christ.” New members will be received and the Lord’s Supper will again be observed and the 16 members of the confirmation class will receive the communion for the first time.
