First Aid Instructor Course Opens Tuesday Gerald Durkin, chairman of first aid for the Adams county Red Cross chapter, announced today that a first aid instructor course will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the new Red Cross center, 1212 East California road, Fort Wayne. The class will meet once weekly for six consecutive weeks. Enrollment is limited to those persons who have completed advanced first aid within the past three years, and who are 18 years of age or older. Anyone interested should call Durkin or the Red Cross office.

DECATUR E.U*. MIMIAM CIRCLE MEETS The Miriam Circle of Decatur Evangelical United brethren church met recently at the home of Miss Vera Van pugkir|f, witt) Mrs. Marie Deßolt as leader. The meeting was opened with scripture read by Mrs. Viola Wiefeldt and a solo, “The Old Rugged Cross,” by Miss Kay Wynn. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Helen Morgan. The lesson, “People, Culture, Background, and Churches of Korea" with "Buffer on the Rim” as a sub-title was presented by the leader. Taiwan, and Korea were discussed at length; religions, in dependence, and geographic data. The leader closed the discussion with prayer. The chairman, Mrs. Haggerty, had charge of the business meeting. Die next meeting will be May 14, at the home of Miss Kay Wynn. The leader will be announced later. The meeting was closed with prayer, after which the hostess served delicious refreshments to seven members present. GALS AND PALS CLUB PLANS PROGRAM The Gals and Pals home demonstration club met recently, and the meeting opened with a repetition of the club creed. Devotions were given by Mrs. Glen Manley; Mrs. Larry Brunper gave the history of and the group sang, "On the Banks of the Wabash.” The president, Mrs. Norman Young, explained program planning. Society 0, , , Diere will be a meeting of the Academy of Friendship in the Moose home, Monday at 7:30 p.m. The general meeting for the Decatur Woman’s club will be Monday evening at 8 o’clock in the Community center. The Art department will have the program; and present a guest speaker, Mrs. Dean McKean, who is fashion coordinator from Wolf and Dessauer. The Pleasant Mills P. T. A. will meet in the high school, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. lessons they preferred. The lesson on the Power garden was given by Mrs. Lowell Noll, assisted by Mrs. Paul McCullough. Mrs. Ned Ray gave the health and safety lesson. The group then modeled the “crazy hats” they made as they answered roll call. Mrs. Rodger Frey, a visitor, won the door prize. Refreshments were served to the 24 members and one guest by the hostesses, Mrs. Emmett Hawkins, Mrs. Norman Young, Mrs. Richard Peterson and Mrs. Harvey Jones. Those in need of transportation for the trip to Fort Wayne, April 25, should contact Mrs. Norman Young. The group will leave from Gerber’s parking lot at 9 a.m., and return between 3 and 3:30 p’m. They will tour the Coca-Cola company and Seyfert’s company.
