Women want ranges that are easy to clean — and they’re getting them. Electric cooking has always meant clean cooking and the 1963 electric ranges make it even cleaner. Improved designs and special easy-to-clean features help keep the new electric ranges cleaner and also make them easier to clean when food does spill. Surface cooking elements are self cleaning, as are the rod-type broil and bake elements in electric ovens and broilers. Surface ovens and boilers. Oven racks and broiler reflectors are removable, and some of the self-cleansing heating elements lift up or down while others are removable to give access to the entire interior. Some oven doors lift off for washing at the sink. Others drop down to make it easy to reach inside. A major reason electric ranges stay clean is that accurate automatic controls for both surface units and ovens prevent boil-overs, bake-ons, and other messy results of old-fashioned, inaccurate temperature and time controls.

Remodeling Kitchen Is Easy With One-Piece Range
One-piece electric ranges with easy-to-install features are receiving increased attention from home remodelers. Drop-in ranges that go into cabinet cutouts, built-ins that rest on the floor, and highoven units that rest on cabinets or hang on the wall are gaining favor and showing greater percentage increases than either freestanding units or two-piece builtins, it was reported at the National Association of Home Builders convention at Chicago. The growing importance of onepiece built-ins to remodelers is shown by the fact that two piece built-in ranges are ahead of onepiece units in the remodeling field by only two to one according to one firm. And this proportion is shrinking. In the new home market, on’ the other hand, separate two-piece wall oven and surface units outstrip the one-pieci
built-ins by three to one, the firm said. Manufactures or electric appliances are catering to the growing remodeling market by providing more ranges that eliminate much of the installation and cabinet cutout problems of true builtins, it was reported. The growing appeal of one-piece slide-in electric ranges is due to demands by builders for low-cost, easily-installed units. The one-piece electric ranges come with automatic controls, selfstarting timers, and easy-cleaning features. Meat thermometers, automatic rotisseries, see-through oven doors, split-level tops and other special features are optional. AU the new electric ranges provide fast, constant heat for consistently good cooking. They come in a variety of finishes.

The smooth, squared-off design of modern electric ranges gives them the built-in look today’s families want. Automatic features such as the meat probe are also on the “wanted” list.
