FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY TO BE CELEBRATED Mr. and Mrs. Warren Buckmaster, 5711 Homewood Dr., Fort Wayne, and,farmer residents of Decatur, will Celebrate their golden wedding anniversary March 24, with an open house in their home, from 2 to 5 p.m. The couple has six children; three sons, Harry, Melvin and Wayne, and three daughters, Mrs. Frances Fowler, Mrs. Jean Garrison and Mrs. Helen Waikel. Mrs. Buckmaster's mbther, Mrs. Minnie Patterson, is living. CELEBRATE GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Forest Mankey of Craigville recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the Preble Gardens. The friends and relatives of the couple were served from a table decorated with a gold and white wedding cake. The couple are the parents of six daughters, Mrs. Wilford (Freda) Mcßride of Ossian, Mrs. Jacob (Mabel) Denis of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Milton (Dorothy) Hoffman of Preble, Mrs. Sherman (Mary) Gould of Uniondale, Mrs. Larry (Patsy) Daffarn of Waynedale, and Mrs. Doyle (Laura) Werling of Craigville. There are also four sons, Ralph and Glen of Decatur and Carl and Walter of Craigville, as well as 44 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Three children are deceased. MT. the Garden” by the group. Mrs. Nevin Miller was in charge of devotions. Mrs. Earl G. Fuhrman gave an interesting lesson on, “What Lenten season means.” She also showed drawings of objects which are symbolic of Easter. The president, Mrs. Florence Susdorf, presided over the business meeting. Three flowers were sent during the past month and 19 get-well cards; 20 sick calls were made by the members. The nomination and election of officers for the coming year were held. Mrs. David Cook gave some bed sheets which were torn into bandages to be sent to the missions. One new member, Mrs. Glenn Fegley, was welcomed into the society. Mrs. King served a lovely lunch to 20 members and 1 child. MIRIAM CIRCLE OF EUB CHURCH MEETS Tuesday evening, the Miriam circle of the Evangelical United Brethren church met at the home of Mrs. Mildred Stingley with Mrs. Helen Morgan the leader. The lesson concerned the “The Aging and the mission of the church on their behalf.” The leader used the poem, “O God I Need Thee,” as a call to worship. The leader stressed the fact that no matter what the age of an individual, each one has a need and likes to be needed. The questions, “How the aging might serve the church" and “In what ways the church might assist the aging,” were discussed. The leader closed the lesson with a prayer taken from Isaiah 61. The chairman, Mrs. Haggerty, had charge of the business meeting. A general meeting of the W. S. W. S. was announced for Monday, March 25. The next meeting will be held April 2, at the home of Miss Vera Van Buskirk, with Mrs. Marie Deßolt as leader. Mrs. Haggerty dismissed with ved delicious refreshments to the prayer after which the hostess ser--7 members and 1 visitor present. REBEKAH LODGES HOLD DISTRICT MEETING The Rebekah Lodges of Adams, Blackford and Wells counties held their district meeting in Liberty Center Friday afternoon and evening. TTie school of instruction was in charge of Mrs. Mary Decker, assembly president of the Rebekah assembly. There were 110 present for both the afternoon and evening sessions. Miss Nancy Louise Bailey became the bride of James Allen Elliott, Saturday at 6 p.m., in the Pleasant Valley church. The Rev. Roger Budde heard the couple’s double-ring vows. The church was decorated with baskets of colored gladioli and candelabra. Traditional wedding music was presented by Larry Merriman, organist, and Dick Johnson, vocalist. ■Hie bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bailey, route 1, and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elliott, 311 North First St. Bailey gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a floor-length gown of chantilly-type lace and nylon sheer over taffeta. The molded bodice was fashioned with a sabrina neckline and long sleeves tapered to points over her wrists. The gathered skirt was fashioned of nylon sheer tiers, banded with chantilly lace. Her fingertip veil was caught to a headband of seed pearls. She carried an orchid atop a white Bible. Mrs. Larry Wilson was the bride’s matron of honor; Miss Carol Wahle and Miss Martha Anderson served as bridesmaids. A niece of the groom. Miss Brunner, served as junior bridesmaid, and Miss Donna Brunner and Miss Sharon Riley, also nieces of the groom, served as flower girls. , The attendants wore dresses of orchid de luna peau, styled with slim skirts, fitted bodices with jewel necklines and long sleeves. with a large back bow. Their nose, gay headpieces were of matching de luna peau and they carried white carnations with orchid chrysanthemums. Herb Magley served as best manThe ushers were David Bailey, brother of the bride, and Max Elliott, brother of the bridegroom. A nephew of the groom, Dennis Brunner, was ring bearer. The bride’s mother chose a royal blue dress with matching hat and black accessories. The groom’s mother wore a navy blue dress with black accessories. Both mothers had white rose corsages. From 7 to 9 p.m., there was a reception for 250 guests held in the Decatur Community center. The serving table for the reception was covered with orchid net with orchid and white decorations. Assisting with the reception were Mrs. Larry Coffee, Miss Helen Elliott, Miss Susan Frank and Miss Susan Helmrick. The bride's going-away costume was a yellow, wool knit sheath dress with black accessories and she wore the orchid from her bridal bouquet. The new Mrs. Elliott is a graduate of Pleasant Mills high school and is employed by the Lincoln National Life Insurance Co? in Fort Wayne. The groom was graduated from Decatur high school and is employed at the Kroger Warehouse, Fort Wayne. Upon their return from a wedding trip, the couple will be at home on route 6, Decatur.
