The second step is to seek to live that kind of life yourself. Ask yourself constantly whether Jesus would do the things ia question, then govern your own thoughts and actions accordingly. The third step is the habit I of prayer. Pray tor His spirit in | i

Wednesday March 20: Sunday School Conference following the mid week service, mi The road of life has many hills —difficult places to travel. Many lack the power to surmount the climbs of life — its sorrows, defeats, frustrations. Their spiritual engine cannot make it, their inner life must be overhauled. The spiritual power whose source is God and whose mediator is Christ must be made new. THE BETTER WAY 1 Most people do not know where 1 to look for the trouble if their car stops on the highway. They would not know what to do be- ' cause they lack experience in dealing with balky motors and ex- ! perience gained by persistent fix- ’ ing at motors. It is likewise true with faith in God. We don’t trust ■ God in emergencie unless we ■ have trusted him in the daily affairs of our lives. Refugees from . Communist dominated countries ■ have sometimes been confident . and hopeful while others were frightened and full of despair. The difference was their inner faith or lack of it. We can manage the emergency situations of life : if we have been accustomed to meeting our daily situations with faith and trust. If we have learned to solve our small problems with confidence in God, then the emergency situations can be met calmly and effectively because we have an established faith. your life. Pray for the strength and wisdom to do God’s will even as He did. Then assume that His spirit is in you, and you will find | that it is. i 7

The Church Invites You Sometimes a watch refuses to run. It can result from failure to wind it or because material which does not belong in a watch has worked its way in and prevents the parts from functioning effectively. AU of us, like our watches have some primary purposes in life. Watches are for telling time. If we neglect the mainsprings within us which keep us going in the realization of our primary purpose, then we cease to function effectively as Christians. There are several ways to wind up our Christian lives — church attendance, Bible study, prayer, Christian fellowship. Our lives must be cleansed from time to time like our watches if they are to operate well. Superficiality, selfishness, pride and sin clog our lives as dust and dirt clog watches. Christ alone can enable us to “make all things new’’ it we allow Him to be the central figure in our lives. The church proclaims Christ's teachings and provides us with standards to live by.
