DEChTVI HOME CLUB HAS MEETING TTie Decatur Home demonstration club met at the C. L. of C. hall recently. Mrs. Woodson Ogg, vice president, presided and led the group in repeating the club creed and pledge to the flag. Mrs. John Wilson Beery was welcomed as a new member and 28 members answered roll call. Mrs. Robert Kiess gave the devotions and read an interesting paper on George Washington. Mrs. Melvin Hanni, music chairman, led the group in the singing of the club song as well as the song of the month, “The Old Oaken Bucket,” and gave the history of the latter. “Happy birthday” was sung to Miss Ivy Gilpin. Mrs. John Gage was accompanist. Mrs. Frank Fisher gave the health and safety lesson on home fires. She said that in case of fire, all windows and doors should be closed and a • fire extinguisher should always be at hand as well as the telephone number of the fire department. The citizenship lesson was given by Mrs. Howard Eley, who explained the bill of rights. Among other things, she pointed out that only a court of justice can punish a citizen for not obeying the law and a house cannot be searched without a court order. The members of the home demonstration clubs of the county will be able to attend by chartered bus, which will leave the Decatur post office at 8 a.m. Mrs. Homer Bittner, Mrs. Gordon Black and Mrs. Ralph E. Roop were reported ill. An auction sale was conducted and Mrs. Frank Christ was the auctioneer. Mrs. Ogg closed the meeting by reading a Valentine poem, and the members repeated the chib collect. Mrs. Victor Kneuss conducted a Valentine contest; the prize being won by Mrs. A. J. Zelt. Dessert, wafers and coffee were served by Mrs. Frank Bohnke, Mrs. Howard Eley, Mrs. Woodson Ogg, Mrs. Frank Crist and Mrs. Joe Hunter. The Flo-Kan Sunshine girls will meet Monday evening at 7 o’clock in the Moose home. All members are urged to be there. The Hoagland Firemen’s auxiliary will have a dance in the Hayloft, one mile west of Hoagland, Saturday at 9 p.m. I The Leah circle of the Decatur E. U. B. church will meet Wednesday at 8 p.m. with Mrs/ Richard Maloney. Mrs. William Christen will be chairman. Order of Eastern Star will honor master Masons at their meeting, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Masonic hall. The Bethany circle of the United Church of Christ will meet Wednesday, after Lenten services, in the church. The Adams county historical society will meet in the Decatur public library Tuesday at 8 p.m. Locals A/3c Melvin K. Albert (John) Davison, of near Pleasant Mills, is still recuperating from a broken shoulder received four weeks ago while trying to move a bull in his barn. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kalver are returning this weekend from a two-week vacation in Mexico City, Taxco, and Acapulco, Mexico, with Mrs. Kalver’s brother and sister-in-law. Roger C. Harris On Distinguished List Roger C. Harris has been named to the distinguished students list of Purdue University - Fort Wayne Center, according to Noland T. Cooper, registrar at the center. In order to be named as a distinguished student, the student must achieve a 5.5 index or better out of a possible 6 point grade system. Only Slight Damage In Accident Friday Only one auto was damaged in a minor accident a t10:25 p.m. Friday in Pleasant Mills. A car operated by Catherine Faye Geisler, 17, route 6, Decatur, was backing out of a driveway and backed into a car parked on the south side of U.S. 33. The parked car, suffering SSO admage, was owned by Cloise Leverre Reinhart, 42, route 6, Decatur. The Geisler car was not damaged. Deputy sheriff Harold August investigated. Revival Continues At Winchester Church Revival services at the Winchester United Brethren church continue into the second week, with the Rev. Virgil Hull speaking at each evening. To Attend Workshop On Health, Aging “Health and Aging” will be the theme for the ninth annual Kirkpatrick memorial workshop on aging to be held all day at Ball State Teachers college Wednesday, March 6. Miss Bernice Nelson, head of the local welfare department, along with Mrs. Mary Strickler and Mrs. Barbara Nix, also welfare department employees, are planning to attend the workshop. Mrs. Mabel Marshall, formerly with the local welfare office, is also attempting to make arrangements to attend the workshop. The conference will open at 9 a.m. with an address by Dr. Donald Moore of Larue D. Carter memorial hosiptal in Indianapolis. The luncheon speaker will be Dr. Nathan L. Salon of the commission on the aging and aged. Dr. Frederick C. Swartz, commission on aging member also, will be the after-dinner speaker. The workshop, which is held annually, is financed by a grant from Dr. Nila Kirkpatrick Covalt, a Florida physician who formerly practiced in Muncie, in honor her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Walter Kirkpatrick of Muncie. Births At the Adams county memorial hospital: A baby girl, weighing 7 pounds and 11% ounces, was born Friday to S. Oren and Faye Haines Woodward, route 2, Berne, at 2 p.m. Friday. Saturday at 2:15 a.m., a baby boy was bom to Robert and Angela Sheehan Johnson, 2717 Plaza Dr., Fort Wayne. The baby weighed 8 pounds and 8% ounces. Amos and Fannie Schwartzentruber Schwartz, Geneva, become the parents of a baby girl at 2 a.m. today. The baby weighed 7 pounds and 4% ounces.
