Ratcliff, 20 route 6, Decatur, was found guilty of failure to yield the right of way in city court this morning, and paid a fine of $lO and costs, totaling $28.75. Ratcliff wax arrested February 10 by state police when he pulled from the Holthouse-on-the-Highway parking lot into the path of a southbound car on 13th street. He had pleaded not guilty last Monday in court, and acted as his own defense counsel today. After prosecutor Severin Schurger asked a number of questions of trooper Alan Coppes, Ratcliff also fired several questions at the trooper, attempting to prove his innocence. He stated that he made several tests and that if the southbound auto was not speeding, he pulled onto the highway “two seconds” before the car reached the driveway. Judge Stults then found him guilty and handed down the fine.
