DECATUR EUB MIRIAM CIRCLE MET RECENTLY The Miriam circle of the Decatur Evangelical United Bretheran church met at the church recently with Miss Vera Van Buskirk as leader. The lesson entitled, “The church as a healing and redemptive fellowship,’’ was opened with scripture by Mrs. Jeanne Gilpin and prayer by Mrs. Marie Deßolt. The group was led in a very interesting discussion by the leader. The business meeting was conducted by the chairman, Mrs. Marge Haggerty. Notes from the executive meeting were reported. The next meeting will be March 5, with Mrs. Helen Morgan as leader. The place of meeting will be revealed later. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Haggerty to the six members present. PYTHIAN SISTERS TEMPLE MEETS Mrs. Cecil Gause, most excellent chief, presided at the Temple meeting when the Pythian Sisters Temple met in the Moose home recently. The Needle club after Temple meeting and 18 members answered roll call. Mrs. Robert Judt and Mrs. Robert Witham served a delicious luncheon at tables beautifully decorated with a Valentine theme. Door prizes were won by Mrs. Bert Haley and Mrs. Effie McGill. "Die winners of the games played were awarded prizes. The next meeting will be February 25, and Mrs. Frank Liechty and Mrs. Fred Hancher will be the hostesses. MEETING FOR WOMEN’S GUILD OF ZION CHURCH Mrs. James Borders was program chairman when the Women’s Guild of the Zion United Church of Christ met in the church, recently. Mrs. Borders used as her topic, “High Places Daily.” The hostesses, Mrs. Carl Stucky, Mrs. D. A. Swickard, Mrs. Clara Trout, Mrs. Dehner Troyer, Mrs. James Tumbleson, Mrs. John Tuttle and Mrs. William Tutewiler, served refreshments. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. George Thomas. MRS. FRED CORAH ASSISTANT HOSTESS Mrs. Mildred Corah, wife of Fred Corah, 212 Limberlost Trail, has taken over as the new assistant Welcome Wagon hostess in Decatur, according to ar» announcement made Monday by Mrs. Dorothy Mauller. hostess. Mrs. Corah is active in church, social and civic affairs of the community. She served as the city chairman for the mother’s March of Dimes just recently completed. The Welcome Wagon performs a human and public relations service for business enterprises as well as for churches of all faiths and local and national civic and social organizations. The program is sponsored locally by more than 20 merchants and business organizations who are members of Wei-

PRESBYTERIAN MARINERS HAVE MEETING The Mariners of the First Presbyterian church had their first meeting of the year, recently. Officers were elected, and they were installed by last year’s skippers, Lorene and Ray Shell, assisted by the Rev. and Mrs. Elbert Smith. Skippers for 1963 are Clark and Kathryn Mayclin and first mates are Royal and Esther Friend; log keepers are David and Sanna Langston and pursers are Ray and Helen Johnson. After the installation of officers, the program was in charge of the Rev. Smith who talked on, “What is our profile?” “Pews News” will be published Wednesday this week and all news should be telephoned in. - The next meeting will be February 17 when the group will give a program in the county home. The committee in charge will be Russell and Ruth Freed, Doris and Clint Reed. All Mariners should be at the church before 7 p.m., so that they can leave for the home promptly at 7. The Smiths an d the Mayclins served refreshments to the nineteen members present. Mrs. Carl Lichtenberger will be hostess to the Calvary Ladies aid Wednesday at 7 30 p.m. The Historical club will meet Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Mrs. Lydia Worthman. Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock the Faithful Followers of Mt. Tabor will meet with Mrs. Cora Drake. There will be a meeting of the fourth district Past Presidents' Parley of the Legion auxiliary at Post 47 in Fort Wayne, Thursday. This meeting will be a carryin dinner at 12 noon. The Loyal Daughters class of the Bethany E. U. B. church has cancelled its February meeting. The next meeting will be March 19 in the home of Mrs. Earl Fuhrman. The Northwest elementary school P. T. A. will meet in the school Thursday at 7:30 p.m. A special educational film has been procured and this film will .be of special interest and benefit to everyparent. Music win be furnished by the first-grade students under the direction of Clint Reed. The business meeting and music win be first, followed by the showing of the film. Refreshments win be served by the hospitality committee. All me mbers are urged to come as their support is needed. Miss Sudduth is employed by Holthouse on the Highway. Her fiance is employed by Gerber’s Supermarket. No date for the wedding has been set.

Mrs. Gray is much improved in health, and able to be up and around some, they reported. Gray works for the city of Melbourne. Mrs. Houk's home economics class of the Decatur high school toured the Adams County Trailer Sales, Inc., and saw the fine features of mobile living. The tour was directed by Earl W. Geyer, sales manager. The members of the class were Judy Beard, Carol MiUer, Jane Mills, Cynthia Collier, Barbara Singer, Jentet K. Pugh, Minnie Serna, Carolyn Gould. Lupe Serna, Melissa Mayclin, Carmen Mendoza, Donna Bixler, Marilyn Scott and Sylvia Bleeke. Jesse E. Niblick, 308 North Fifth St., enjoyed a surprise birthday dinner Saturday. Although his birthday is February 12, the family could get together only on Saturday. Niblick, who is 85, is in fairly good health. Those who came to spend the day with him were Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Large and son, Charles, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Clark, Dayton, O.; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Miller and son, Paul David, of Fort Wayne. Mrs. Robert Luginbill has reported to the Daily Democrat that she sighted four deer on the David Meyer farm. GIRL SCOUTS TROOP 630 Troop 630 held its meeting at the Northwest school Thursday. The meeting was called to order by the president, Pam Harner. We had the roll call and the dues were collected. Next came the discussion on the new business. Debbie* McKein furnished cupcakes for the treat. The meeting was then, dismissed. Scribe, Cheryl Miller. J TROOP 357 Brownie troop 357 met at the Northwest school Friday afternoon. The roll was called by our new secretary, Debbie Alton. Dues were then collected by the treasurer, Karen Elzey. We elected more new officers, president, Connie Hutker, Laurie Johnson as historian, Brenda Sheets as cloverleaf, first aider. Our new leader, Susan Hefner, led us in a song, “White Coral Bells.” We decided who has to bring different articles for our first aid kits Games were also played. FIANCEE of George Bleeke. The engagement of Miss Annis Marshall Cotton to George Bleeke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bleeke, route 5, has been announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore A. Cotton, Thornwood, N. Y. The bride-to-be was graduated from Pleasantville high school, Thornwood, and will be graduated from Earlham College, Richmond, in June. Bleeke attended Valparaiso University and will be graduated in June from Ball State Teachers College. He is a member of Epsilon (Pi Tau, national industrial arts honorary society, and Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
