MRS. COLCHIN HOSTESS TO FIREMEN'S AUXILIARY The Ladies auxiliary of the Decatur firemen met recently in the home of Mrs. Maurice Colchin. At the meeting’s opening, the group stood and repeated the Lord’s prayer. The secretary's report was read and eleven members answered roll call. There was no business to be discussed and the remainder of the evening was spent playing games with prizes for the winners. The hostess served delicious refreshments. ST. GERARD STUDY CLUB METS WEDNESDAY EVE The members of the St. Gerard study club met at the home of Mrs. G. Medford Smith Wednesday evening for their monthly meeting. Mrs. Smith led the discussion period on indulgences and the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. Mrs. Ed Under, president, opened the meeting with the prayer to the Holy Spirit. Roll call was taken and the minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The prayer to St. Gerard closed the meeting. Refreshments were served by the hostess. A potluck supper was planned for the March meeting, which will be held in the home of Mrs. Andrew Miller. WOMEN OF THE MOOSE HAVE ENROLLMENT CEREMONY The Women of the Moose held an enrollment ceremony for a class of candidates Thursday evening in the Moose home, with the senior regent, Mary Fravel, presiding. Following the enrollment, lovely refreshments were served by Cecil Haney, Josephine Voglewede, Anna Myers and Margaret Titus, The next regular meeting will be held Thursday February 21. MRS STUCKY HOSTESS TO EUB DORCAS CIRCLE The Dorcas circle of the Decatur E. U. B. church met recently at the home of Mrs. Ivan Stucky. Mrs. John Smith was the lesson leader, and used the topic, ‘The aged and the aging.” Some of the problems of the aging were discussed and what the church and its members could do to help. Mrs. Mary Lynch gave an interesting account of her visit to the Haven Hubbard home. The secretaries gave reports on what was being done in the groups about

MEETING FOR THE CHARITY CIRCLE OF UNION CHAPEL Miss Betty Walters was the hostess and Mrs. Doyle Egley the program leader when the Charity circle ot the Union Chapel WSWS met Thursday evening. The lesson topic was, “To Know each other.” The scripture, taken from the books of Luke and Mark, was read by Mrs. Egley. “More about Jesus,” was sung by the group, followed with prayer by the leader. Pat Gaunt, Janet Roughia and Wilma Hirschy read articles which told how handicapped people can be helped in the community and church. Mary Frank read quotations from a staff member of a state penitentiary for women. An article about women parolees was used by Mildred Smith, and Veda Williamson closed the meeting with prayer. The general meeting will be held February 19 at the church with election of officers for the coming year. Dick Heller will show pictures of his recent travels at this meeting. The circle was glad to welcome a new member, Mrs. Warren Nidlinger. The group gathered around a table, decorated with the theme of George Washington’s birthday, for the delicious refreshments which were served by the hostess. The circle had 100 percent attendance at this meeting. During the business meeting, each member paid a penny for each year of her age to help increase the treasury. PAINTING OF CHRIST GIVEN TO MISSIONARY SOCIETY The Church of God Missionary society met recently in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Elmer Scott was program leader, and she was assisted by Mrs. Kenneth Mitchel, Mrs. Guy Agler, and Miss Edith Mattax. During the business session, Mrs. Floyd Mitchel, president, the members to remember their secret pals on Valentine day. Mrs. Willard Landis, Mrs. Earl Geyer, and Mrs. Charles Frank were appointed to serve on a nominating committee to prepare a ballot for the selection of officers for the coming society year. A highlight of the evening was when Mrs. Earl Geyer presented the society a picture which her mother, Mrs, Lucille Miller, had painted. It is a lovely picture of Christ and a cross which Mrs. Miller wants the society to use in the new church. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Floyd Mitchel, and Mrs. Reuben Smith, to the 17 members and one guest, Mrs. Cecil Foor, present. The Salem Methodist WSCS will meet at the church Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Boxes for shut-ins will be packed. Mrs. Tony Metzler will be hostess to the So Cha Rea Thursday
MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM HAMRICK will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary February 17 with an open house from 2 until 6p. m. in their home on highway 49, south of Willshire, O. They were married February 16, 1913, in the Methodist church in Chattanooga, Tenn. They have four children, Herman, Willshire, CL, Cloyde, Decatur, Mrs. Kenneth Sanders (Bessie), Monroe and Mrs. Homer Landis (Virginia), Decatur. There are 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Hamrick is a retired employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

The Naomi circle, Mrs. Calvin Magley, chairman, will meet in the church at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning. Mrs. Chalmer Deßolt and Mrs. Tom Burk will serve as hostesses. Mrs. W. W. Cravens will lead the Bible study. The MaryMartha circle, Mrs. Ed Hagan, chairman, will meet in the home of Mrs. Fred Smith Thursday at 2 p.m. This time is a half-hour earlier than usual. Mrs. Elbert Smith, Jr., will lead the Bible study. The program, “Conversations on the rim of East Asia (2) Korea,” for both the Naomi and Mary-Martha circles will be presented by Mrs. Gene Rydell. The Ruth circle, Mrs. Edward Cook, chairman, will meet Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Robert Frisinger. Mrs. Robert Macklin will lead the Bible study. The program, “Ministries of Mercy,” will be presented by Mrs. Eugene Nicks. , *” ; The Flo-Kan Sunshine girls will sponsor a dance called the “February Frolic.” It will be Friday evening from 8:30 to 11:30 o’clock in the Community center. All the Sunshine girls are urged to come after school Friday, and help decorate for the dance. Knights of Columbus auxiliary will have a card party Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the K. of C. hall. Herbert and Marilyn Hutchison Hamrick, route 5, Decatur, are the parents of a baby boy, weighing 8 pounds and IVz ounces, born today at 7:17 a. m. Pleads Not Guilty To Traffic Charge Gene A. Ratcliff, 20, route 6; Decatur, appeared in city court this morning and pleaded not guilty to a charge of failure to yield the right of way. Ratcliff was arrested by state trooper Alan Coppes on U. S. 27 Sunday. Coppes was unable to appear in court this morning, so the case was continued until- 9 a.m. next Monday. The case against Ratcliff was the only action in city court this morning. Automobile, Fence Damaged In Accident A car driven by Daniel R. Speicher, 52, of Berne, suffered ; an estimated $350 damage in a one-car accident at 9:30 p.m. Sunday in Jefferson township, eight miles east of Berne. Speicher was westbound on Ohio i road 707 when the auto went into a slide as he slowed for a coution sign at an approaching turn. < The car failed to negotiate the j curve and slid through the intersection and into a field, knocking down 100 feet of line fence on the William Bollenbacher property. * Approximately SSO was listed as damage to the fence. The ceremony was attended by nearly all state Republican officials and a sprinkling of Democrats. $4,000 In Rings Stolen At Store ANDERSON, Ind. (UPD—Police today searched their files in an effort to identify a nimble-fingered thief who reached over the counter in a jewelry store and fled with an estimated $4,000 in diamond rings. Harold Wegeson, manager of Spandts Jewelry Store, said he discovered the theft late Saturday, hours after it took place. The loot consisted of two trays of rings. Donald E.
