LEGIQN AUXILIARY HAS CHRISTMAS DINNER The American Legion auxiliary had a Christmas party, recently, with a carry-in dinner. The tables were beautifully decorated with candles and Christmas decorations. Each place was marked by a small bell with a greeting.

Games were played and refreshments were served. Those present were Geri Lewton, Connie Durr, Cheryl Gehres, Jill Teeple, David Rice, Ronnie Luginbill, Carl Gehres, Steve Miller, Jerry Hakes, Dean Singleton and Brennan Miller. tl The Order of Rainbow Girls Will meet Thursday at 6:45 p. m. in the Masonic hall. The First Methodist church, Bluffton, was the scene of the double-ring wedding ceremony of Miss Ellen Eichhorn and Charles F. Rhodes at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Albert Habgood performed the ceremony and the wedding music was provided by Mrs. S. E. Pyle at the organ. Miss Eichhorn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Eichhorn, Bluffton, and Mr. and Mrs. Estel J. Rhpdes, Bluffton, are the groom’s parents. 4 ............ The bride chose a gown of silk

face peau de soie and reembroidered Alencon lace. The lace appliqued the basque bodice and’Yprmed the scalloped portrait neckine and brief sleeves. Flowering garlands of the lace,- touched with tiny bows, accented the slim belled front of the skirt and framed the skirt’s box-pleated carriage back which swept to a chapel-length train. Her pearl and lace edged silk pedal cloche caught the imported illusion' veil. Her bouquet was a cascade arrangement of white lilies, silver belis and a white orchid. Tne, bride’s sister,- Miss Judith Eichhorn, was her maid*of honor and the bridesmaids were Miss Rebecca Eichhorn, sister of. the bride, Mrs. James Etter, Kokomo, Mrs. Guy Tillett, Martinsville, and Mrs. Richard Thompson, ColUmbus. The attendants were attired in identical dresses of emerald green sat-a-peau. The molded bodices featured square necklines and elbow-length sleeves. The very full gathered skirts were fashioned with deep hems. Matching he ad. pieces were emerald green pillboxes, centered with a self-fabric bow, with circular maline veils. They carried bouquets of red pojnsettias and silver bells. James Rhodes, DeKalb, 111., stood as his brother’s best man. Seating the guests were James Mailers, Pennville, Larry Farling, Rex Athan, Fort Wayne, and Ronald Fryback, Linn Grove. Immediately following the ceremony, there was a reception in the church fellowship hall. Assisting with the reception, were Miss Pat Ward. Indianapolis; Miss Charlene Boyle, Indianapolis; Mrs. Max Hamilton; Mrs. Fred Booth, and Miss Dorothy Worthman, Pontiac, Mich. ». For her wedding trip to Washington D. Locals Dick Clapp, a 1948 graduate of Geneva high school, and chief deputy prosecutor of Delaware county, since Dec. 1, 1959, is joining the Hampton and' Robinson law firm in Muncie, Januarv.l. Lawrence Morgan, retired railroad worker, is reported recovering from a light stroke suffered last Friday morning. ; Morgan is in room 347 at the Adams County memorial hospatal. Mrs. Larry Gerber and infant daughter,.of route 4. Bluffton, were dismissed Thursday from the Clinic hospital in Bluffton. Saturday, Kathryn Rash celebrated her 16th brithday. She attends Decatur high school and is the daughter of. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Rash, 4,15 John St. Her 16th. birthday was celebrated Sunday by Susan Ostermeyer. who is a student in the Decatur high school. Miss Ostermeyer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Ostermeyer, 1601 West Monroe St. Roger Von Gunten. 25. son of Hr. and Mrs. Sherman Van Gunton, of Berne, suffered a fractured right leg in a tobogganing mishap at a Mennonite retreat at Camp Friedenswaid. Mich., last Wednesday, and is hospitalized at Goshen, until the leg can be placed in a cast in about three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Welch of near Bern%, lost their house trailer and all of their possessions except the clothes < they were wearing, when a fire demolished the trailer last Wednesday afternoon. Wilson Cross, assistant principal and guidance director at Geneva high school, has been given a leave of absence to return to his former job as a salesman. Kenneth Smith, of Royerton, a fall graduate of Ball State, will join the Geneva The condition of Al D. Schmitt, 421 Mercer Ave., was listed as “just fair” by his doctor this morning. Schmitt suffered a stroke Thursday afternoon, and is in room 353 at the Adams county memorial hospital. Bill Myers is a patient in St. Rita’s hospital, Lima, O. He ( was injured yesterday at the Fruehauff Trailer Co., Delphos, O. His room number is 519. Mrs. Martin Zimmerman, who has been confined to the DePaul hospital in St. Louis, Mo., has been moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gordon Olson, in St. Louis. If her condition still shows improvement, she plans to return to her home here Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Beam, and children, Pat, Nancy, Susan, and Kathy, will return this ” week from a two-week vacation in the Ft. Rainbow For Girls - Holds Dance Tonight The Order of Rainbow for Girls will sponsor a New Year’s Eve dance from 9 p.m. until 12:15 a.m. tonight at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. Admission will be 25 cent’s single, and 45 cents per couple. All are -invited to a’ftend; ler University and is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and Kappa Kappa Sororities. She is a teacher at Monmouth high school. The groom attended Montana State University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He recently completed active duty in the U. S. Army, stationed in Hawaii. He is presently employed by the H and M Builders, until the couple’s return to the Montana State University, where Rhodes plans to complete his graduate studies.

TWO FAITHFUL EMPLOYES of the Adams county memorial hospital, Miss Eleanor Daehnke, R. N., and Mrs. Amanda Ward, nurse’s aide, with 39 years service here between them, retire today, Miss Marie Felber, R.N., superintendent of nurses, announced today. The two employes were honored with a tea and reception in the hospital dining room Sunday afternoon. Many nursing friends attended. ’Miss Daehnke, a native of York, Pa., came to Fort Wayne in 1914, and started nurses training at Lutheran hospital. She was graduated in 1917, and for many years was a private duty nurse in Fort Wayne and Decatur. In March, of 1940, when Miss Elizabeth Pittman was hospital superintendent, she was placed on the regular staff, and has worked there ever since. At that time, the nurses worked 12-hour shifts. She has been working the 11 p. m. to 7 a. m. shift since she started, and on the second floor in recent years. t A resident of Monroeville, Miss Daehnke stated that she had no immediate plans, but just wants to rest this winter. Mrs. Lois Sharpe, R.N., will be transferred to her position on second floor. Mrs. Amanda Ward, a nurse’s aide on the second floor from 7 a. m. to 3 p. m., took her training at the hospital in Bluffton, 0., and came to the Fort Wayne area in 1920. She came to Decatur January 14, 1946, and has been working at the local hospital since that time. Mrs. Ward, who enjoys riding .her bicycle and puttering in her garden, has a six-acre patch on the Glen Habegger farm where a trailer has been installed. She plans to retire to the trailer in the immediate future.

David and Janice Vodde Lengerich, 1121 North Second St,, became the parents of a baby boy, weighing 8 pounds and 8 ounces, Sunday at 6:05 a.m. A baby girl was born to James and Maureen Shook Butcher, 550 Studebaker St., Sunday at J:23 p. m. The |>aby weighed 7 pounds. Vance Krick Serves Aboard Destroyer USS ISLE ROY ALE (FHTNC) — Vance D. Krick, dentalman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orley A. Krick of 204 South Eighth st., Decatur, Ind., is servng aboard the destroyer tender USS Isle Royale, which recently completed underway training at Fleet Training Group, San Diego, Calif. The Isle Royale recently completed an overhaul after spending 17 years in the reserve fleet. Service Tonight At Methodist Church A New Year’s Eve service will be held at the First Methodist church, Monroe and Fifth streets, from 7:30 to 8:30 o’clock tonight. Special music will, include a trumpet solo by Rick Collins and a vocal solo by Mrs. Walter Krick. Singing of hymns and a brief meditation by the pastor, the Rev. A. C. Underwood, will complete the service.
David B. Heller Is Reported Improved David B. Heller, advertising manager of the Decatur Daily Democrat, who suffered a light heart attack last Monday, is still not allowed to have any visitors, but is being allowed to sit on the edge of his bed once a day for ten minutes for the next week, before more tests are taken. He is feeling much better, and has enjoyed reading all of the cards he haso received. He is in/ room 102, Adams county memorial hospital. Willshire Youth Is Appointed As Page Representative Martin W. Fugeit, serving on the patronage committee for the 105th Ohio general assembly, announced today the appointment of James W, Anderson of Willshire to the position of page in the house of representatives during the coming session. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Anderson of Willshire, 0., is a freshman at Ohio State University. He is a graduate of Parkview high school and an Eagle scout, Fugeit said. Fort Wayne Store Manager Arrested FORT WAYNE, Ind. (UPD— James ®Esterline, 41, manager of Rogers Supermarket, was due to be returned here today from Bellefontaine,' Ohio, to face charges of embezzling more than $25,000. Esterline was arrested at Bellefontaine Saturday 11 night on a drunk driving charge. Early Sunday Ohio authorities learned he was wanted on a fugitive warrant in connection with the shortage. The warrant charging embezzlement was signed Friday by John Rogers, vice president and treasurer of the firm, a few hours after officials of the supermarket chain -confronted himwith the shortage. j « Rogers'; said Esterline had worked for the company for 15 years. He said an audit was underway to determine the exact amount of the missing money. He said it would probably exceed $25,000. , ■ ,
