WILL OBSERVE THEIR SIXTIETH ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. John Cook, 513 West ’ Jefferson St., will observe their 60th wedding anniversary Christmas day. A daughter, Florence, died in 1950. Another daughter, Mrs. Harry Norris, lives in Fort Wayne. A grandson and two great grandsons live in Auburn. The couple will spend the day with their family. TRINITY BIBLE CLASS HAS DECEMBER PARTY The Trinity Bible class held its Christmas party at the church, recently, with 20 members and one guest present. The meeting was opened by the group singing “Silent Night” and "O, Little 1 Town of Bethlehem." Mrs. Nellie Kruemen gave the Christmas story and all prayed the Lord’s Prayer in unison. Cecil Harvey Jiad charge of the business meeting, since both the president and vice president wer r e away. The class gave two blankets for needy people through a free-will offering. Bills for flowers were allowed and officers for the coming year were elected. It was moved and seconded that the 1962 officers keep their offices for the coming year. Mrs. Emma Barkley is the new secretary. Thee lass presented the teacher with a Christmas gift. The closing song was “Joy to the World” and prayer was offered by Mrs. Artie Crider. Mrs. Krumen gave a short Christmas program, “The Story of Christmas of Long Ago,” "Legend of Conrad the Cobbler,” and “Why Can’t It Be.” Mrs. Barkley read, “Poems of Friends.” The host and hostesses, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Wynn, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Bodie and Mrs. Josephine Weldy, served lovely refreshments. HANNAH CIRCLE HAS MORNING MEETING The Hannah circle met at the home of Mrs. Orval Fisher Thursday morning. ing was conducted by the chairman, Mrs. Don Cochran. The project for December was supplies for the McCurdy school in New Mexico. The circle gave four Bible story books, five boxes of crayons, 33 pencils, four tablets, one notebook and six color books. i Mrs. Doyle Gehres was the leader. Her topic was, “As good stewards of Christmas.” The leader recited a poem, after which she told a story of an eight-year-old girl who only had enough money to buy a gift for her mother, so she wrapped it in newspaper and put a note on the outside saying, “It’s what is inside that really counts.” A short talk was given by Mrs. Gehres on "Forgive us our Christmases." The hymn, “O, Come all Ye Faithful,” was sung, after which the offering was placed before the creche and the closing prayer was given by Mrs. Don Cochran. At noon, the ladies enjoyed a luncheon at the Country Charm restaurant. The January meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Virgil Andrews. MRS. FLEMING HOSTESS TO ROOT TOWNSHIP CLUB The Root township home demonstration club held its Christmas party recently at the home of Mrs. Russell Fleming. Beautiful Christmas decorations were arranged throughout the house. There were 20 members, one guest, Linda Reed, and three children present for the carry-in dinner at noon. The meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Richard Moses. Devotions were given by Mrs. Nevin Miller. Assisting the hostess was Mrs. Al Schneider. A gift exchange was held, after which the group sang carols. A contest was won by Mrs. Robert Johnson. A Christmas poem and a letter to Santa were read by Mrs. William Susdorf. Various games were played and everyone received a prize. The entertainment committee was Mrs. Archie Susdorf and Mrs. William Susdorf.

BLUE CREEK FRIENDSHIP CLUB HAS PARTY The Blue Creek Friendship Village home demonstration club met Thursday for its annual Christmas meeting. A potluck dinner was enjoyed at noon. The tables were beautifully decorated in keeping with the Christmas season. Installation of the new officers was given by Mrs. Merle Kuhn, county president. Devotions were given by Mrs. Lula Raudenbush, a poem by Mrs. Carl Schug, a solo by Mrs. Norris Riley,-a reading by Miss by Mrs. Don Raudenbush. A letter, written by Mrs. Leland Ripley thanking friends and neighbors for the many acts of kindness shown her family during the sickness of her husband, was read. Cheer sisters were revealed after the gift exchange. Plans for the Tlew club year were made. Mrs. Charles Shoaf, the new president, Selected the committees for 1963. The morning was enjoyed chatting and playing checkers. The citizenship lesson was given with a skit entitled, “Which America.” Those partcipiating were Mrs. Chalmer Barkley, Mrs. Wilbur Foos and Nellie Price. Hurst of rural route 5, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their youngest daughter, Jacqueline Sue, to John William Morgan, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Morgan of Hoagland. Miss Hurst is a graduate of Monmouth high school,- attended Indiana Central College, and completed the Issac Knapp dental assistant course. She is now employed by Dr. Harold DeVor. Her fiance attended Hoagland high school, served for two years with the U. S'. Navy, and is now employed by the truck sales and processing center of the International Harvester company in Fort Wayne. The wedding will take place February 2at the Union Chapel Evangelical United Brethren church.

He is in Naval school for IBM schooling at Norfolk, Va., until February, when he will be transferred. Her sixteenth birthday is being celebrated by Miss Penny Ann Schmoll today. Is Reported Today A car driven by Cari Thieme, 30, route 5, Decatur, suffered an estimated SIOO damage in a one-car accident on U S. 224, three cast of Decatur, at 8:50 o’clock ■tffis morning. - Thieme was westbound when his J auto slid on the slick highway and the right wheel dropped off the berm, causing him to lose control. - The auto crossed the highway and went into the ditch on the south side backwards, knocking down a mail box and a wooden post. The mail box was at the Homer Schannen residence. Deputy sheriff Robert Meyer investigated the mishap. Former Decatur Man Dies At Richmond A former Decatur area resident, Gordon C. W. Egnor, about 80, died suddenly last night in Richmond, it was learned today. Egnor lived here about 20 years, moving to Richmond about eight years ago. He lived for some time with Dr. C. J. Yonkin, near the county line, on highway 224. He was a retired U. S. Marine Corps veteran. Surviving are thre children: Justin, of Amarillo, Texas; Donald, Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Rose Brown, Dayton, O. Two Are Injured In Winchester Accident Miss Marlyn Durr, 22, and h?r brother, Dave, 19, were treated' at a Winchester hospital Thursday evening following an automobile accident. They are the children of sheriff and Mrs. Ray mood Durr, of Bluffton. The accident happened in Randolph county when their car spun out of control on a snow-packed highway, and hit a tree headon.
