Says Party-Pooping Is Natural Gift By DICK WEST United Press international WASHINGTON (UPI) — By and large, party-pooping is a natural gift. It’s like an operatic voice. Either you have it or you don’t. If you are basically a bathtub baritone, no amount of study and training is going to turn you into a opera singer. The same is true of party-pooping. Party-pooping lessons will do you no good unless you are instinctively the wet blanket type. It is something 'you are born with. If you lack that inherent talent, you can put on lampshades as hats, or show home movies, or resort to any other standard party-pooping techniques and people will go on having a good time. But if you do have the khack, then you might profit from instruction. A correspondence course in party-pooping will have you winning master points almost before you know it. Watch Experts If possible, attend a party-poop-ing tournament and watch some of the experts in action. , . Beginners ~ of cpurae.. start out in a small way. Until they get the hang of it, they should confine their pooping to cocktail or dinner parties where' not more than eight or 10 guests are present. Then they can work up slowly to larger affairs; such as club dances. “. One of the most ambitious undertakings that 1 have seen in a long time is the handiwork of Irwin H. Kramer, manager of the Hotel Edison in New York. He has put out a set of instructions showing how to poop an office party. This being the season of office parties, I will pass them along for the benefit of any .poopers who feel that they are ready for the big time. Ideas For Pooping (1) Schedule the party for 3 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday. (2) Have the boss make a speech on economy and wasting time. (3) Insist that allmarried employes bring their spouses. (4) Use an IBM machine to keep track of how much each employe drinks. (5) Invite children of employes to attend. (6) Arrange to have musicians play only waltzes. (7) Ask office accountant to do comedy bit, and act as bartender. (8) Request that all employes come format (9) Choose waitresses for their efficiency rather than beauty. (10) Disclose at end of party that salary cuts are in offing for 1963. An office party is the toughest . kind there is to poop. If the measures recommended by Kramer fail, 1 have a couple of suggestions for use ,in emergencies. (1) Schedule two parties, one for male employes and die other for females. (2) Put up a sign reading “soft drinks only.” Wm "***** * “Oh, that? That’s the ifttle dance I do after I've used a Democrat Want Ad!”
