Lafayette And Elkhart Handed First Defeats INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — The casualty list continued to grow Friday night among Indiana’s major unbeaten high school basketball teams but top-ranked Evansville Bosse and second-place East Chicago Washington managed to keep their records clean. Bosse, defending state champion and ranked first by the United Press International board of coaches, made it 16 straight with an easy 71-47 victory over Southern Conference foe Princeton. Washington, runner-up to Bosse in the state tourney finals last March and ranked second by the coaches, downed Gary Mann, 51-38, in a West NIHSC clash. But it was a different story for third-ranked and previously unbeaten Lafayette. Fifth-rated Anderson, knocked from the unbeaten ranks last week, dumped Lafayette, 81-57, in a North Central Conference game.
