Wrestlers Are Defeated By New Haven The Decatur Yellow Jackets dropped a dose 35-23 decision to a rugged New Haven wrestling team New Haven gym Thursday evening, the first defeat of the season for the local grapplers against one win. Actaully the loss was a moral victory for the Decatur squad, dropping a decision by only two points to one of the area's tougher teams. The Decatur team was without two regulars, Manny Ybarra and Mark Corral, both of whom were victorious in the team’s season opener at Noblesville. Five Decatur lads won their matches, four by pinning their opponents, in the closely-fought battle. Kalver, Adams win Pat Werst of Decatur, subbing for Corral, lost a decision to Hetrilk of New Haven in the 95-pound class but Dave Adams and Alan Kalver pinned Charleston and Mellon in the 103 and 112 pound classes,, respectively, giving Decatur a 10-3 lead. Both Kalver and Adams pinned their opponents in the second, twominute period. New Haven then copped the next three bouts, all by decision, in the 120, 127, and 133 pound classes, Downey of New Haven pinned Kenny Hill of Decatur in the 1738 pound division, to give his team 17-10 margin. Baumann Winner Sam Baumann of Decatur decisioned Osdale of New Haven, but Lee of New, Haven pinned Decatur’s Tom Arnold for a 22-13 New Haven lead. The lead was short-lived, however, as Deane Lehman and Larry Reinking pinned their opponents and gave their team a 23-22 advantage. Lehman, wrestling in the 165 pound class, pinned Fox in the first period, and Reinking was also a victor by a first period run, his second such victory of the season. Gulyas of New Haven, a veteran lers, decisioned Steve Hazelwood and one of the state’s top wrestof Decatur in the heavyweight class, which provided New Haven' with its winning margin. Coach Gary Giessler’s Decatur squad returns to action Thursday, December 20, when they open their home season by playing host to Manchester. Crossan was the Eagles’ third choice in the National Football League draft. St Paul, Monroe Methodist Winners St. Paul Lutheran and Monroe Methodist were victorious in a pair lof Adams county church league games played Thursday evening. The St. Paul five downed Barne E. & R. by a 5847 score, while Monroe Methodist handed Linn Grove E.U.B. an 87-74 setback. Conrad and Mentor tallied 15 and 14 points to lead St. Paul Lutheran, whil Stahly was high for the Berne club with 14 tallies. Butt tallied 24 points, as did Hanauer, and Paine added another 20, in leading the Monroe team to its win. L. Dubach’s 21 markers toped the Linn Grove scoring. H. S.
