Jones stated that the walkout was caused by pupils who were not aware of the truth. Only one pupil had been paddled this year in discipline at the school; every other method, including withdrawal of privileges, is applied before paddling, he stated.

Confesses Stealing Sisters' Savings TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (UPD — A practical nurse, mother of 12 children, has signed a statement admitting she took two cans containing $12,000 to $15,000 from a hiding place in the home of Iwo elderly sisters for whom she was caring. Mrs. Bertha lona Ford, 44, and her husband. Willie, 58, were held today in Vigo County jail on preliminary grand larceny charges while Terre Haute police try to unravel the complicated case. The two victims of the theft. Nettie and Laura Moorhead, 88 and 86 years old, were unaware that their trusted nurse had taken the two cans, which apparently represented only about one-third of the total amount t hey had hidden in a closet of their home. Chief of Detectives John O’Leary said today that the arrest of the Fords resulted from police investigation based on suspicious behavior of the couple, and not on a report from the victims who did not know the money was missing until officers asked them to check their money. Die sisters are semi-invalids and retired school teachers. O’Leary said they also owned “quite ia bit of income property” in addition to what they saved from their years of teaching. “The money was in shortening cans,” he said. Mrs. Ford in her statement said she found the cans about the middle of September while, she was working for the Moorheads and took two of them home with her. She said she did not know how much was in them, but they were filled with S2O, $lO and $5 bills. Police estimated the two cans had from $12,000 in them and the ones still in the closet about $28,000. This sum will be subject to verification as soon as bank officials complete a count. O’Leary said the Fords, who never had much money, suddenly began spending a lot of it. “They acquired six cars, but I don’t know where they all went. They did some trading and gave some to their children. There were four cars at their place—one Cadillac and three Chevies—but we’ve only found two of them so far,” O’Leary said.

CHRIST'S PS ACE Rev. James R. Meadows “My peace give I unto you,” promised Christ. That is what we want, is it not? Peace! A life in harmonious correspondence with its environmentno discord,'either within or without a blessed sense of cooperative well-being. And that is what Christ promises to give us. It is the sweetest of His assurance. Peace, and His quality of Peace — the same deep, abiding and sufficing Peace which He enjoyed. What is the Peace of Christ? It is not the Peace of Affluence, nor the Peace of Tranquility, nor the Peace of congenial companionship. We may be quite sure of that. And yet, Christ says, ‘My Peace give I unto you.” What then, is the Peace that He gives? -r It is Peace of Conscience, the Peace of sinlessness, the Peace of Character, the Peace of Abiding Trustfulness and assurance that we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, and our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life, and that we are new creatures in Christ Jesus and that we possess the Gifts of Eternal Life and the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Christ believed that God’s will, even though it determined crucifixion, was always good. He had implicit, unequivocal confidence in His Father.

How different it is with many of us! We call God our Heavenly Father, and yet we seldom give Him that kind of trust. We dot not believe, in practice, that all Ibings work together for good to them that love God. The face of life would be changed if we were really convinced that "not a sparrow falleth to the ground without the knowledge of your Father, and ye are of more value than many sparrows." We trust that each one of you have that sweet Peace of Christ in your heart today when we are facing such great dangers upon this earth today. THIS WEEK’S BIBLE VERSE “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” — Romans 15:13.
