Just what is meant by “semiformal,” as applied to the dress of both men and women? A. This usually depends upon the community. In some places, where men customarily wear tails. then semi-formal means tuxedos for them and simple evening dresses for the women. In a simpler community, it would be plain dark blue or gray suits for the men and afternoon frocks for the women. Q. Is it up to the man or the woman, who have just been introduced, to glad to have met you,” when leaving each other?
A. The man should take the initiative, while the woman responds with a smile and “thank you.” Q. At, which side of a person at the table are the beverages placed,

State Senator Dies Suddenly Saturday INDIANAPOLIS (UPD — The death of State Sen. Richard Newhouse, R-Morristown, who died of a heart attack Saturday, left the Republicans without a constitutional majority in the Senate today. Newhouse, 60, was taking part in ceremonies at the Shelbyville Masonic Temple when he suffered the attack. Among the 100 spectators was his wife, Dr. Margaret Newhouse, a physician, who rushed to his side. He was dead la few moments later. Governor Welsh, who is empowered to call a special election to fill Newhouse’s"’seat, said Sunday night “it is inappropriate at this time” to make a statement about filling the vacancy. It was considered unlikely that Welsh, a Democrat, will call such an election. The death leaves the GOP with only a 25-24 edge in the Senate. It makes it impossible now for the Republicans to otnain a constitutional majority of 26 on any vote which producs a split along party lines. Newhouse was a holdover senator, with his term expiring at the end of 1964. He represented Shelby, Fayette and Rush Counties. Lt. Gov. Richard Ristine, the Senate’s ranking Republican, expressed shock at the senator’s death. He said he had planned to name Newhouse as the chairman of the Senate Reapportionment Committee, one of the most important assignments of the 1963 s<*ssica s== = Newhouse authored the plan for reapportionment which the Republicans hope to get through the 1963 and 1965 sessions of the General Assembly as an amendment to the Constitution. GOP State Chairman H. Dale Brown said Republicans are going to have to obtain Democratic t support if any of the GOP programs are to be adopted. “We will have to rise above partisanship,” he said. Newhouse, a Morristown hardware dealer, lived on a farm near Gwynneville and operated farms in Rush and Shelby Counties. He was a member of the House in S stab 1947 and 1949 sessions. . The nation’s cows porduce over 317 quarts of milk for each of us this past year—about half was used as milk, the rest was made into butter, cheese, ice cream and other processed dairy foods.
