Mrs. Arthur Schinnerer, in Willshire, Ohio, where they enjoyed a dinner in observance of Joe’s birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kruckeberg and family, 72 West St. Ext., had as their dinner guests Sunday, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kline and family, and her grandmother, Mrs. Josephine Tickle, all of Ohio City, Ohio; also Kay Schadt of Van Wert, Ohio. Mrs. Vivian DeVor, 521 S. 13th St., attended a birthday celebration in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bair, Jr., in Fort Wayne Sunday, in observance of their birthdays. Others present were: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bair, Sr., of Decatur, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bair of Fort Wayne, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boroff and family of Van Wert, Ohio.

Mrs. Cleta Drake, 40 Star Lane, received a shower of groceries from the employes of Decatur Industries last Friday, which was much appreciated. Mr. and Mrs. Jerral Blair and son, 67 Bella Casa, spent Saturday night with his brother Bradley Blair, and family, in Fort Wayne. Society ADAMS CENTRAL P. T. A. OBSERVES OPEN HOUSE The second meeting of the Adams Central P. T. A. was held Monday evening, The president, Dr. Norval Rich, opened the meeting. He introduced the Rev. Vernon Riley, pastor of the Friends church in Monroe, who gave devotions. He used the theme. “Count our blessings.” Judy Hakes then favored the group with a number at t h e piano. < Mrs. Bob Mitchel, secretary, read the minutes of the first meeting and Mrs. Lyle Franz, treasurer, read her report. Both reports were approved. It was decided to contribute $25 to the Northeastern Indiana regional science fair. Open house was then observed. The December 17 meeting will be the annual Christmas program, with the lower grades giving an operetta. Loons Township Bus For Use Os Teams Preble township is helping out a neighboring school group that needs a school bus, Robert Kolter, township trustee, said today. One of the Decatur Catholic buses, to to transport basketball teams to the games, has broken down, and a bus was urgently needed. Kolter had loaned a Preble township bus to the school for the team, with the understanding that Decatur Catholic will furnish the driver and gas for the trips. Max Kreps, school bus driver, is driving the bus, which is normally driven in Preble township by Ralph Mankey during the school day. Jack Heller Unhurt In Illinois Wreck John G. (Jack) Heller, vice president and director of the Decatur Daily Democrat, who has recently taken employment with the Fremont Tribune, Fremont, Neb., was uninjured in a wreck on his way west last week. An elderly couple ran a stop sign, and rammed the right side of his station wagon, necessitating the replacement of the right front light, and damaging the right door. The accident took place in Illinois. Heller was able to continue to Fremont, and is staying temporarily at the YMCA there. Paper Drive Saturday By Cub Pack 3062 Cub Scout pack 3062, sponsored by the Southeast school, will hold a paper drive Saturday, weather permitting. The drive will start at 9 a.m. and the Cubs ask the papers be placed in front of the homes, next to the street. The Cubs will canass the area south of the Erie railroad and east of the Pennsylvania railroad. Residents of any other areas in Decatur who. wish to donate papers may have them picked up by calling one of the following numbers, 3-9161, 3-3748, or 3-3516.

Junior First Aid Class Is Planned Fifteen members of Girl Scout troop 551 will start a 15-hour junior first aid course Tuesday night at the Decatur high school, taught by Mrs. Roger Singleton, Red Cross first aid instructor. Mrs. Hubert Zerkel, Jr., is leader of the troop, and Mrs. Don Smith is the assistant leader. Classes will be held in room 205 of the high school. Each class will be two hours in length. Students taking the course include: Sharon Kaye, Elaine Bowman, Linda Merriman, Julie Zerkel, Janelie Heller, Jane Smith, Carolyn Hill, Pam Hirschy, Carolyn Rash, Cheryl Teeple, Wynne Begun, Vickie Wolfe, Donna Smith, Sandra Singleton, and Susan Singleton. 20 Years Ago Today Nov. 21, 1942 — The Adams county war price and ration board announced 1,810 auto owners in Decatur registered for gasoline ration coupons. Figures were not yet available on the Adams county total. Dr. James Burk, Decatur, has been named examining physician for Adams county draft board. Other doctors previously named are Dr. G. J. Kohne and Dr. W. E. Smith of Decatur, and Dr. C. P. Hinchman of Geneva Fifty-two Adams county men were sent to Toledo, 0., today for final army physical examinations under selective service.
