Gage, 339 North Eleventh street, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Joan Kathryn, to Thomas G. Gross, 110 South Fourth street, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Gross. The bride-elect attended International Business College and is presently employed at the Leland Smith Insurance agency in Fort Wayne. Her fiance is an employe of the A & P Tea company in Fort Wayne. Both arc graduates of Decatur Catholic high school. They plan to be married January 19 in St. Mary’s Catholic church -- in Decatur.

Mrs. Carl Schug called the meeting to order •and read, “Where is Happiness?’’ Mrs. Roy Frank read the Bth Psalm and read the poem, “A Secret ” followed by prayer by Mrs. Lawrence Carver. Mrs. Roy Miller reviewed two articles from the Methodist Woman, "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come,” which had been written by a minister of 45 years who will soon retire, and “The Cloud over

Mrs. Carver read "Methodist Blackfeet Mission” from the World Outlook, whcih was about a group of Indians, telling how they lived and worshipped. -The lesson story, “'Die United Nations Family,” was given by Mrs. Clifford Roe, assisted by the Mesdames Oscar Young, Chester Bryan, and Elisha Merriman. Twelve members answered the roll call by exhibiting antiques. The minutes were read by Mrs. Chester Bryan and Mrs. Charles Burkhart read a letter from Miss Maxine Coleman. It was announ-

A gown of corday lace and pea de soie satin was chosen by Miss Lula May Ratliff for her 6:30 p.m. Saturday wedding to Rex Edwin Allsion. The marriage took place in the Antioch Lutheran church, Hoagland. The double-ring vows were heard by the Rev. Robert Whitenock. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. “floward Ratliff and the late Howard Ratliff of route 2, Monroeville. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Allison, route 2, Monroeville. Mrs. Lloyd Brown was the organist; “Wedding Prayer,” “0, Perfect Love,” and the “Lord’s Pray-, er” were sung by Miss Judy Bergdoll. The bride was given in marriage ■by her brother, Herman Ratliff. The lace basque bodice of her gown featured a scalloped neckline jewelled with seed pearls and sequins and long tapered sleeves. The draped dome bouffant skirt of pea de soie was appliqued with corday lace. Her silk illusion veil was held by a crown of auora borealis and crystal. She carried a crescent bouquet of red roses. Mrs. Richard Thornell was matron of honor and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Flynn Kennedy, Fort Wayne, and Miss Donna Allison, sister of the groom. The attendants were attired in taffeta princess-style gowns of turquoise with matching pill box ced that the Thanksgiving festival for the church would be November 21 with the potluck supper being set for 6:30 p.m., a program following. After the group was dismissed with prayer by Mrs. Austin Merriman, lovely refreshments were served by Mrs. Fox to the members and one guest, Mrs. Harold Young. The next meeting will be at the church basement with a potluck dinner at the noon hour and a fifty-cent exchange. The husbands will be guests at that meeting December 13. FIREMEN’S AUXILIARY HAS SESSION The Decatur Ladies’ Firemen’s auxiliary met recently at the fire station with 11 members presen.t. The president opened the meeting by having the group repeat the Lord’s Prayer. The secretary read the minutes of the last meeting. The group discussed and made their plans for the Christmas party for next month. The remaining part of the evening was spent playing games with prizes given to the winners. The hostess, Mrs. Leon Snyder, served a very delicious luncheon. DAD’S NIGHT FOR SUNSHINE GIRLS Dads of the Adams Central Sunshine girls were guests at a “Daddy date night" Thursday in the school gym and cafeteria. A mixer opened the evening’s activities. Games were played on the gym floor; ending with two game? of dodge ball. Refreshments were then served in the cafeteria. Planning the evening’s activities were Gloria—Rupert and Judy Hirschy, co-chairmen ofthegame committee. Stanley Allison, brother of the groom, stood as best man and the ushers were Lee Owens, Convoy, 0., brother-in-law of the groom and Leonard Thieme. The bride’s mother was attired in a blue lace over taffeta with dark blue accessories. She wore a corsage of red roses. A turquoise crepe dress with matching accessories was the choice of the groom’s mother and she also had a corsage of red roses. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church basement. Serving at the reception were Mrs. Lee Owens, sister of the bride, Mrs. Herman Ratliff, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Janice Allison, sister of the groom. Registering gifts was Miss Karen Sue Allison, sister of the groom, and gift registrars were Mrs. Dean Sing and Mrs. Roger Hardy. For her wedding trip to the eastern states, the bride was wearing a royal blue dress with black accessories. The bride is a graduate of Hoagland high school and is employed by the Allen Dairy. The groom? who is employed by Town and Country, was graduated from Decatur high school. The couple will reside at route 2, Monroeville. Jeannie Clardk and Carol DeVine. Refreshments were aranged by Ann Moser and Susie Helmrich cochairmen. Others on the committee were Karen Hich, Veverly Osterman and Diane Raudebush. Fathers of the girls on the refreshment committee, dressed as chefs and helped serve the food. The past matrons of the Order of Eastern Star will meet Thursday at 7:30 p. m. in the home of Mrs. Chalmer Barkley. The Women of the Moose will have an executive meeting Thursday at 7:30 p. m.; the regular social meeting will be at 8 p. m. Mrs. Bob Williamson, library chairm an, will be in charge. The Trinity Bible class of the EUB church will meet Thursday at 6:30 p. m. for their Thanksgiving supper. It will be a potluck at the church and everybody is asked to bring his own table service. At the close of the formal program, the Indiana federation presented to Miss Butler a voluntary contribution of over 51.20 J for the international scholarship fund, namedin her honor, to be used to brnig Latin American students to the United States to pursue graduate study. The local club brought back a special badge awarded to those clubs securing seven new members during business women’s week.
