HEAVY BALLOTING (Continued from Page One) chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, the journalistic society, in Indianapolis several weeks ago when the •two senatorial battlers almost came to blows. Capehart reiterated his program of conservatism while Bayh again outlined his liberal views. The Hoosier voters have almost a clear choice between the right and the left. Chairmen Predict Gallmeyer did not repine seriously over the bare party war chest but predicted the election of Capehart by more than 170,000 tallies while Core said Bayh would prevail by 35,000 to 40,000 votes. H. Dale Brown, veteran Marion County GOP chairman, estimated Capehart’s lead in the biggest county in the state at more than 30,000, which, if it comes true, may be more than the expected margin of the Democrats in Lake County, a citadel of the party in past elections, but which has been rocked with political corruption scandals this year. The voters will brave the expected cloudy and chilly weather also to vote for state senators and representatives, state administrative and judicial officers, excluding governor and lieutenant governor, prosecutors, sheriffs, judges and other county and township officials. Sharp contests for the lucrative office of sheriff are expected to swell the vote total in a number of counties.
