OCTOBER « St. Mary's Catholic church, Decatur, was the scene o fthe wedding of Miss Judith Lynn Roberts and Terry Carter Smith, Saturday October «. The Rt. Msgr. Simeon M. Schmitt performed the doublering ceremony at 10 a.m. The church was decorated with arrangements of white and bronze mums. Mrs. Rita Girod was the organist and mass was sung by the men’s choir. Mr. and Mrs. Carl T. Roberts, 1039 Russell St., are the bride’s parents. Parents of the groom are Mr .and Mrs. Scott A. Smith, New Haven. The bride’s costume was a beige wool jacket dress with white fox cuffs. Her flowers were an orchid corsage, and she wore a beige halo hat. Miss Judy Ellenberger, the maid of honor, was attired in a threepiece cocoa brown dress, a cocoa brown halo hat and had a corsage of yellow roses. Mike Kohne was best man. For her daughter’s wedding, the bride’s mother chose a candlelightbeige brocade jacket dress with brown hat and corsage of yellow and bronze mums. The groom’s mo 5 ther was attired in a rose brocade jacket dress with matching hat, wearing a corsage of white mums. A wedding breakfast was served at the bride’s home with a small, reception from 2 to 5 p.m. | The couple took a wedding trip to Chicago, 111., and are at home in New Haven. THURSDAY MEETING FOR SALEM METHODIST WSCS The Salem Methodist Woman’s Society of Christian Service met | Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Claude Foreman. The vice president, Mrs. Merle Riley, opened the meeting by reading several thoughts, two of which were “An Indian Prayer” and '•Life is so Short.” The devotions were in charge" of Mrs. Roy Frank and she üBSd as her scripture Psalms 107: i-10, and a reading, "A Moment of Prayer in the Morning,” and an article, “Shopping for Ideas.” Mrs. Charles Burkhart led in prayer. Mrs. Rue Strayer was in charge of the lesson, “New Frontiers m Home Missions” and she was assisted by the Mesdames: Charles Burkhart, Elisha Merriman, and Oscar Young. A general discussion followed. During the business meeting, the 10 members answered the roll call with “A Household Hint” and Mrs. Chester Bryan read the minutes of the previous meeting. It was decided to have quiet day October 25 and the observance of the week of prayer and self denial at the church Oct. 31 at 1:30 p. m. The group was dismissed with prayer by Mrs. Albert Tinkham, who was a guest at the meeting. Mrs. Foreman served delciohis refreshments to all present who included 10 members, one guest, and two children. The next meeting win be with Mrs. Jess Fox. SEVERAL PRENUPTIAL PARTIES ARE HELD Several pre-nuptial parties were given for the recently-wed Mrs. James Baumgartner and her groom. Saturday, September 29, Mr. and Mrs. Sephus Jackson and daughters entertained in their home, 828 Parkview Drive, at 6 o’clock with a dinner for the couple, the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Baumgartner and his grandfather, Jesse Swartz. After dinner, an evening of fellowship was enjoyed. Thursday, October 11 at ,7 p. m., the bride entertained at the home of her parents for all her attendants, servers and registrars. During the evening, she presented each one with a gift. Games were enjoyed and refreshments were served.
