— - • * We’ve given you the best electric system we know how to build.
It has taken us just two years. We have had as many as 50 men working at one time to get the job done. It was a big job, but a job we enjoyed doing. Since July 1, 1960, when we began operations here, a new substation has been constructed, all rural and city lines have been rebuilt, all electric meters have been changed or checked for accuracy, a new office was built, a new fleet of vehicles purchased, and an addition constructed at the Operating Headquarters on Seventh Street to house equipment. Our investment in the Decatur area has now reached $4 million. Os this, just over $2 million was spent purchasing the electric system and the balance was spent rebuilding and adding to. 1

THE DECATUR DAILY DEMOCRAT, DECATUR, INDIANA
HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED Three 34,500-volt transmission lines were built to connect Decatur with our Tiigh-voltage transmission network. A $340,000 substation was erected to take the bulk power from our transmission lines and transform it into lower voltages for distribution throughout the area. This station has the capacity to handle all the requirements of the area now and in the foreseeable future. We rebuilt distribution lines both within the city and throughout the surrounding rural areas, increasing the base voltage in a major portion of it. We estimated this job to cost $865,000. We did more than we anticipated and the cost of rebuilding distribution lines reached $1,100,000. Within eight months after coming to Decatur, we had built a new office at 216 W. Monroe Street to house the administrative and customer accounting offices. We also constructed an addition to the diesel power plant building on Seventh Street to house equipment. Nearly $135,000 was spent on building construction. x J, ■ ' --- —— Ten vehicles were purchased for use in the Decatur area. This fleet, representing an investr ment of $62,521, provides our employees with the latest and most modern equipment to serve our customers. - — . —— — OUR JOB We aim to give one kind of service to everyone . . . the best that’s possible. That means supplying our customers with what they want when they want it. It means being courteous at all times and maintaining attractive easy-to-do-business-with offices. We are a citizen of Decatur and take an active part in its affairs. Like any other citizen, we want our neighbors to think well of us. ' We grow as Decatur grows. When additional electric power is needed we will again be building distribution lines and expanding our services.
