Plan At Ouabache Park The state department of conservation is requesting $27,500 from the state legislature for construction at Ouabache State Park at Bluffton during the next two years, according to requests made last week to the budget department. These funds would be for improvement only, and do not include operating costs. Largest single item requested is SB,OOO for construction of family or group camping grounds and a gate hpuse. Tbe remaining $19,500 is designated for rehabilitation of four buildings already on the grounds. Die park lodge is to be converted into a dining room and concession stand. The former hatchery building will also be converted into a concession area near the administration building. Another building will be converted into a closed assembly room, for various group uses. A saddle barn, for use for horseback riding facilities, will be made from a former part of the old CCC camp used in the 1930’5. SPANISH (Continued from Page One) operating with olive oil producers to help Spain import more oils to replace olive oil needed for export. Most Spanish cooking incudes cooking oil, usually olive oil. Right now, he pointed out, the use of soybean oil is limited because of the lack of knowledge on the part of retailers on proper mixing methods. When properly mixed with olive oil, soybean oil does not alter the taste. When improperly mixed, it is noticeable to the Spanish taste. Unfortunately, each retailer now mixes his own, and frequently gets complaints. At present, there is a plan to try to introduce properly mixed oils in bottles already mixed. If this is successful, Sainz believes that the importation of soybean oil will continue at a level of some 200,000 tons a year. Usually, a 40-60 mixture of soybean-olive oil is used. Tremendous Increase This is remarkable when it is realized that five years ago, when the Soybean Council of America first came to Spain, only 12,000 tons were used. A special department of the Spanish department of commerce deals with soybean imports, and the new director has been very liberal, Sainz stated. He explained that many changes in freeing imports have taken place within the last three or four years in Spain. Meal Added To Bread Sainz also explained that small quantities of soybean meal are being added experimentally to bread, to see if the nutritional level of protein can be raised, and the quantity of bread issued in the Spanish army can be lowered. Today, for example, the average soldier gets more than two pounds of bread a day, which is more than he can physically consume. But if protein is added through soya flour, this quantity can be cut in half, without cutting the nutritional benefits. Less bread will be wasted, and the diet will be improved. It is hoped that Spain’s importation of soybean meal will be increased this coming January, he added. Many of the problems facing Spain were discussed, and the important changes taking place there were reviewed. The Span-
