Worth Noting: “Light travels inconcievably fast until it encounters a human mind.” THE BETTER WAY Abraham Lincoln once said: "You cannot bring prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot establish sound security on borrow money. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doin for them what they could and should do for themselves.” CLERICUS SAYS CLERICUS SAYS: Just as Israel needed two systems of defense, one spiritual, the other in the walls, so we today need to stand guard as we work to build world peace, and as the enemies of all we love and worship stand beyond the walls and mock and ridicule, our moral development should be such that there stands beside us at all times a trumpeter who will warn us of approaching danger. That trumpeter is our conscience. Positively, we strive after what is good by prayer and Christian fellowship; negatively, we guard against temptation and keep ourselves form those people and places which tend to corrupt. CHURCH FORUM WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A PESSIMIST? A pessimist remembers that the lily belongs to the onion family, while an optimist remembers that the onion belongs to the lily family. A pessimist is one who complains of the noise when opportunity knocks while the optimist is challenged by the knock. The basic difference between the pessimist and optimist centers in the word “faith." Those who lack faith inevitable see life’s difficulties and darkness as primary. ’ r — _ •• ■■■ - They live their lives under a leaden sky. The optimist sees life’s finer, radiant experiences and regardless of what happens, the light of faith always shines within. returned and reported that he only had one wife, so the. priest baptized him.
