QUICKIES By Ken Reynolds Wfe _, ~ 7-X7 r■ M «« *«, «« -A-qE-frroxo-t, w> “My husband said I could buy a swim suit in the Democrat Want Ads—as soon as I learned how!” | Modern Etiquefte I By Roberta Lee - I Q. A good friend of mine recently gave me a beautiful handembroidered tablecloth, and I have invited her and her family to dinner in our home. 1 Would I be offending her is I were to cover her tablecloth with 3 clear plastic cloth? A. Since you are obviously being particularly careful of the tablecloth she gave you, I do not see how you could possibly be offending her. Q. I have just received an engraved invitation to a bridal shower, to be given in a public restaurant, and at the. end was written: “Buffet supper — $2.50 fee.” This is a new one on me. Is it proper? A. No. A shower is an intimate party given in the home of a friend of the bride-elect, and it should not be “commercialized” in such a manner. Q. How many vegetables is it considered “really necessary” to serve at a well-prepared dinner? A. Two vegetables, usually. Q. My husband and I are planning a cruise. Are there any nights that we don’t dress? We are taking dinner clothes for the really festive nights we know are scheduled. A. OnThe first night and the last night aboard, people don’t usually dress for dinner, but wear their ordinary travel clothes. This is because on the first night one is just unpacking, and on the last I night one has just packed. Q. If a widow is tp be remarried and she has always worn her first wedding ring, would if be proper for her to wear both wedding rings? A. Certainly not — and, in fact, I wonder if there is any man in the world who would go along with this! Q. Is it proper for a young man to accept a cigarette offered to him by a girl? > A. This is quite all right.
