freer from DECATUR MUSIC HOUSE QUESTION: What Instrument should my child play? ANSWER: ’ Let your child indicate his preference, then consult a qualified counselor. In most cases, the counselor will go along with the child, inasmuch as desire is of utmost, importance. Your music educator is a qualified counselor, and most music stores also employ counselors. In some cases, a child will be asked to study some instrument other than the one he requested. This will be for a good reason. It may be the conformation of his teeth, his lip contours or any of several other physical factors. If a child is asked to change, you’ll find that almost always he will do so willingly under the guidance of an experienced counselor. A child, however, should never be forced to play an instrument in which he has no interest. A 1 . ■ .I
