PT-109 Movie Is Finding Delays By MERRIMAN SMITH I'PI White House Reporter WASHINGTON (UPI) — Backstars at the White House: Preparation of script and cast for the movie version of “PT--109,” the story of President Kennedy’s World War II naval experiences, has run into delays. The White House has requested or suggested certain script changes and is having something to say about casting. Both the President and Atty. Gen. Robert F. Kennedy telephoned their congratulations to their younger brother, Edward, last Sunday night after his appearance on “Meet the Press,’’ carried by NBC. The President called from Miami Beach, the attorney general from Palm Beach. The two older brothers thought Edward Kenedy did a fine job in his first experience at being cross-examined before a nationwide television audience. As a result of the attorney general’s recent trip around the world, the administration will encourage other touring American officials to spend more time speaking to student groups in other countries. The President’s brother feels strongly this is one area where Americans can best attack some of the 100-year-old concepts of this country that are held and preached by left wing. anti-American elements abroad. The huge Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach where the White House staff set up headquarters last weekend during the President’s visit still is recovering from the experience. What seemed to unnerve the guests was the fact that so many people, plopped down in the lap of luxury at one ot the world’s most famous resorts, spent most of their brief time in Miami Beach working. One mink - draped matron and her husband surveyed busy electricians and camera crews hauling in heavy equipment for the President’s speech at the Fontoinbleau last Saturday night. “They tell me,” said the woman, “that those people are staying here. too.” “What a waste of money,” her husband replied, “coming here to work.” This couple did not realize it, but having to work in resort surroundings is one of the more frustrating aspects of travelling with a president ’ as - ; 5 a professional duty. The same sort of comments are heard from hotel guests in Palm Beach, Newport and Hyannis Port when the President is in the neighborhood. Many vacationers find it almost impossible to understand why anybody would pay good money, even good company money, to stay to a fashionable resort hotel without being able to spend the daylight hours on the golf course or to the swimming pool. Household Scrapbook Nail Holes in Plaster Small, deep nail holes in plastered walls are rather difficult to repair with plaster erf paris. It’ll be a lot easier if your just mix a little talcum powder or cornstarch with a few drops of water, and force the mixture into the hole, smoothing it off with your fingers around the edges. Egg Shaper To prevent eggs from spreading out in the pan, fry or poach them in a low tin can from which the top and bottom ends have been cut. The tin can rings also can be used for shaping hamburgers and potato or fish cakes. If you wish a shape other than round, a bit of finger work will do the trick. Suede Shoes To clean suede shoes, use a rubber or bristle brush, never wire. Dust breaks down this leather, so clean after each wearing. Fine sandpaper, rubbed lightly over scuffed places, will improve their looks. Brush with a rubber sponge after sanding.
