13 Persons Killed In Weekend Traffic By United Press International At least 11 and probably 12 persons were killed in weekend traffic in Indiana, five of them in three-car collisions. The deaths raised the 1962 fatality toll to at least 180 and probably 182. The two probable deaths were those of two purdue University students missing and presumed dead since their car plunged into the Wabash River near Lafayette Saturday. The students’ car was recovered Sunday but the bodies were not inside, and authorities said they may have washed downstream. The search was postponed indefinitely because of swift currents. The students presumed dead were George Kaegi, 19, Louisville, Ky., and Richard Dean, 22, Valparaiso, Ind. A third student, Henry Dudgeon, 19, Louisville, escaped from the car and swaim to safety. Florence Helen Courtney, 65, Vincennes, was killed when her car was struck by a train late Sunday near Vincennes. It was the first traffic fatality of the year in Knox County. Buell E. Watson, 16, and David Glick, 18, Fowler, were killed Saturday night when a train smashed
into their car near Swanington. Claudie Dean Hail Jr., 18, French Lick, was killed Saturday night when his car smashed into a tree after going out of control on Ind. 56 near Hillham. A hit-run driver caused the death Saturday night of Mrs. Martha Damron, '22, Indianapolis, as she was walking to meet her husband at a service station where he worked. A suspect was arrested later. Herbert C. Lyons, 52, and his wife, Shirley, 37, Plainfield, were killed when a train crashed into their oar Saturday afternoon at Terre Haute. Earl Adams, 46, Gary, was injured fatally early Saturday when struck by a car, and Thurman Tucker, 38, Hammond, was killed Friday night at Hammond, also in a pedestrian accident. .Jed Belcher, 42, Fort Wayne, died Saturday of iinjuries suffered in a traffic accident near Arcola Friday morning. Seile Vaughn, 67, Anderson, died ' Sunday from injuries suffered Saturday when his car rammed the rear of a truck parked along an Anderson street. John Pearson, 24, Gary, was killed Sunday on the Tri-State highway in Hammond when his car was involved in a three-vehicle collision seriously injuring Stanley Cummings, Gary. Ellis Gregson, Highland, and Gregson’s wife, Patricia.

The season’s first electrical storms in some areas were relatively mild. But near Logansport a fireman •nd ’' a ‘ teen-age “girl were overcome by smoke in a fire started by a bolt of lightning. Diane Myers, 15, and Robert Canfield, 37, a member of the New Weaveriy fire department, were hospitalized in fair condition after the bolt set off a blaze that destroyed the Clyde Higgins home. Temperatures climbed to the highest points in weeks in some areas Sunday, including 57 at Evansville and 50 at Indianapolis. Overnight lows were above freezing in the upper (30s throughout the state. Precipitation recorded during the rainstorms included Indianapolis .62, Evansville .39, Lafayette .33, South Bend .14 and Fort Wayne ,T - - -- • — 7 -— A little light rain possibly mixed with some snow was forecast for the northern third of the state today. Elsewhere it was expected to be mostly cloudy. Tuesday will be partly cloudy ail around the state. Highs today will range from 37 to 50, lows tonight from 26 to 35, and highs Tuesday from 36 to 49. The five-day outlook called for temperatures averaging 3 to 5 degrees below normal, and precipitation one-fourth of an inch north to one-half to three-fourths of an inch central and south, most of It occurring between Thursday and Saturday.
