( 20 Years Ago ) I Today j u» M- I Feb. 27, 1942 — An Adams county volunteer registration patriotic rally will be held in the Catholic school auditorium March 12, offering an opportunity for women to register to aid in the nation's war effort. More than 1,000 persons attended the Adams county Farm Bureau safety meeting last night, held at the Catholic school auditorium. Fred C- Gallmeier, 60-year-old Preble township farmer, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home. a Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Porter and son Victor attended the national trailer and sportsmen show at Chicago. Results in opening games of the Decatur sectional tourney: Jefferson 32, Geneva 30; Hartford 39, Monmouth 19. taxes may be sold at public sale and the proceeds applied to the taxes. Public notices, or legal advertising, are used in the local newspaper to remind taxpayers of their impending obligations. This makes the tax business one of information, as well as one of official record.
