P TOMORROW’S \ ANOTHER YEAR '■' 3 George nielson didn’t believe; that things could get any worse. His wife Jean had left the night before, bag and baggage. Early this morning the water heater had sprung a leak. He’d waited) until the plumber arrived, and had been late to work as a- result. And now Pete Parker had just informed him that Mr. Potter wanted to see George in his office. George slammed tha desk drawer angrily. "This started out like a good week, "he told Petjir-"Then suddenly everything went wrong. Last night Jean walked out on me. Imagine, she wants me to quit my job to oyer her father’s hardware business! When I refused she left me." “Maybe it’s a good business,” said Pete. , t“I suppose it is, but I want no favors from -anyone." - --- “Well, I don’t think old man Potter is planning to do you any favors. He’s as mad as a hornet. Better see what he wants.” “Probably plans to give me the gate,” said George jokingly. “Everything else has happened to me today.” Pete laughed. i iBBBH vs ii -- Wa ■'< z—J® ILMIi ■> •/ BSwIIr "He did it,” George said. “He actually tired me.”
