On the throw to first, Pierce was waved home, but Hackman's perfect throw to Meyer nipped him at the plate for the final out. The Red Sox had set up the “do or die” game with their win in the opening game which was a tie game and was resumed in the top of the seventh. The Indians threatened t<? tie the contest in their half of the seventh when Thieme walked and Myers reached first on an error with no one out. , Cass bore down, however, getting Loshe on strikes, forced Smitley to fly to centerfield, and fanned Terveer to end the inning and the game. BRUNSWICK AUTOMATIC PINSETTER, poised for action, as it will appear at the Villa Lanes, on highway 224 by the west city limits. Dick and Molly Mies, proprietors, stated today that 16 of these “automatic brain” machines are now being installed at the lanes, which will be opened soon. When the ball, as pictured above, hits the pin cushion, the machine will be activated. If this hit is a strike, the new set of pins will drop from the turret above into the deck, which will set them exactly in place. If it turns out to be a spare, the deck will pick up and reset standing pins after sweeping away "deadwood,” to await a second ball.

Fullmer's Brother To Fight Paret NEW YORK (UPI) — Y o u n g Don Fullfer promised today, “Every time I throw a punch at Benny Kid Paret Saturday night, I’ll try to hit him hard enough to reach Sugar Ray Robinson.” Don. 22-year-old brother of middleweight champion Gene Fullmer. flew in from West Jordan, Utah. Tuesday night to fight former welterweight champion Paret in a nationally televised 10-round-er at Madison Square Garden Saturday night. If middleweight Don beats Cuban Paret, he’ll get a shot at Sugar Ray in the Garden on Oct. 14, matchmaker Teddy Brenner has assured. Because of the bitterness between the Fullmer family and the Robinson camp, Don declared, “it would be a genuine pleasure to get Sugar Ray into the ring and belt him intoretirement.” Meet Four Times Thirty-year-old Gene, recognized as champion by the National Boxing Association, fought Robinson lour—times ; and—each—bout--was-garnished with loud charges and counter-charges. Gene wound up with an advantage of two victories, one defeat hnd one draw; although he suffered the only knockout of his career in their second fight. Because of Doits greater height and reach, he is a classier boxer and a harder hitter than Gene: but whether he possesses Gene’s stamina and ruggedness remains to be proved. For Saturday night's fight, 24-year-old Paret from the Cuban sugar is favored at 9-5 because of his seed, aggressiveness and desperation. Benny will be fighting desperately because he knows that a loss to young Don doubtlessly would cause indefinite- postponement of his return title fight with New York’s Emile Griffith, at the Garden Sept. 30. Griffith took the 147-pound title from Paret on a 13th-round kayo at Miami Beach last April 1. Outweighs Benny Don will.out-weigh Benny about
157 pounds to 153. “I've sieen Benny fight twice on television,” Don disclosed today, “and I think I know how to beat him. Don’t forget I’ve had years of experience, in the gymnasium at least, boxing with a very busy, crowding fighter — my brother, Gene. And I can you this: Paret's a lot easier to hit solidly than Gene is — from what I saw of Benny on’ TV." Manager Marv Jenson, lanky and biondish, agreed. He said, “Don knows exactly what to do with Paret and he has the tools to work with. It’s my opinion Paret will be just another opponent on Don’s march toward the title — perhaps the light heavyweight title. I believe he’ll be a light heavyweight next year.” Jenson stressed that Don already is an excellent combination boxer-puncher, who never was on the floor while winning 25 of his 30 bouts. He lost four decisions and had one draw. He scored nine knockouts. Takes Punches Well “In addition to his all - round ability.” pilot Marv emphasized. “Don has the Fullmer bull neck and the sturdy Fullmer knees — the two most important cushions, neck and knees, for absorbing punch - shock. He’s very, very rugged.” In his latest fight on July 15, Don gave the highly touted Rocky Fumerele of Buffalo, N. Y., a thorough and bloody trouncing at the Garden. That victory was’ an impressive comeback from an upset defeat by Joey Archer at the Garden Feb. 4, after Don had caught a heavy cold following his donation bf a pint of blood to a blood bank in Utah.
