CAROLYN FAST FETED WITH SHOWER RECENTLY Miss Carolyn Fast was honored recently with a shower given by Miss Kenny Peck. Upon arriving, Miss Fast was presented with a corsage of daisies and peonies. Gifts were placed around an umbrella covered with lavendar crepe paper and decorated with flowers. Streamers led from the ceiling to the umbrella, and vases of irises were placed about the entertaining room. Games were played, and prizes awarded to Mrs. Florence Fast, Mrs. Larry Roderock, Miss Bev Stevens, Miss Ruth Ann McCullough, and Miss Marilyn Reinking, who in turn presented them to Miss Fast. Guests included the Mesdames Florence Fast, Dorothy Brown, Paul McCullough, Larry Roderock, and the Misses Donna and Connie Fast, Ruth Ann McCullough, Carolyn Hoffman, Marilyn Reinking, Bev Stevens, and Dr. Elizabeth Peck. Unable to attend but sending a gift was Miss Delores Rodenbeck. MRS. WEIDLER PRESENTS THEME AT WOMEN’S GUILD The Women’s Guild of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church met Wednesday evening for their regular monthly meeting. Mrs. Adolph Weidler, program chairman, presented the theme, “The Witness of the Missions Through My Vocation.” She then introduced Miss Elaine Weidler, who presented two flute selections. A short busines meeting was conducted by Miss Matilda Sellemeyer. The minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were read and approved. During the social hour, refreshments were served by the hostesses. Mrs. Arthur Girod, Mrs. Ron Gerber, Mrs. Edgar Gerber, Mrs. Arthur Fritzinger, Mrs. Tom Garner, and Mrs. Kent Geisler. The Adams county coon hunters will meet at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Reichart school. The Wesley class of the Methodist church will hold a pot luck dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dortha Shady Sunday beginning at 6 o’clock. Members are asked to bring a covered dish and table service. In charge are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Owens, Mr. and Mrs. O G. Baughman, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lewton, and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Harris. Dedication services for the Erie canal roadway park, U S. highway 24. west at Hamilton road, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. Mrs. Raymond Johantgen. state president of the roadside council, and Mrs. Sophie Deifenbaugh. first vice president. will be in attendance. The Gals and Pals home demonstration club will meet Monday at 7 30 pm. in the Pleasant Mills school. Mrs. Frank Arnold will be hostess to the Kirkland WCTU Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Both sections of the Nu-U club will frreet with Mrs. Fern Frey Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. The Martha circle of the Trinity EUB church will hold a meeting Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Homer Bittner. Mrs. Homer Arnold will be the leader. Mrs. John Miller will be hostess to the St. Catherine Study club Tuesday at 8 p.m. The Decatur Business and Professional Women's club will hold their regular meeting at the Cozy Comer Restaurant, Geneva. Wednesday at 7 p.m. 1961-62 officers. Betty Rosier, Betty Singleton, I Maxine Ford, Lucille Beavers, ( Ann Blaney and Vera Lehman, will be in charge. Mt. LOCALS Mrs. Wanda Oelberg, executive secretary of the Adams county chapter of the American Red Cross, left today for a two-week vacation in Maryland. One of the two accident victims injured in early May was erroneously listed yesterday as Mrs. Leandra Juaregui; the name should have read Mrs. Leandra Guerrecwa. Miss Janet Brown returned Wednesday evening from Ojo Caliente, N. Mex., where she visited for two weeks with her brother, the Rev. Lewis Brown, head of the six E. U. B. Mission churches in that area. Mrs. Charles Andrews was in LaPorte Thursday evening to attend the commencement exercises of her grandson, Glenn Allen Wallace. Accompanying her were Mrs. Richard Schafer and Mrs. Ray Osterman. Mrs. Roger Habegger, Berne, and Mrs. Thomas Harris, Muncie, visited with their husbands, Pvt. Roger Habegger and Pvt. Thomas Harris, at Ft. Lenonard Wood, Mo., last weekend. They also accompanied their husbands to the Bagdell dam and Lake of the Ozarks. Mrs. Bernard Hartough and children, Jim Jane and Jill, of Peoria, 111., are visiting in Decatur with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James K. Staley, her brother, Kenneth Gaunt and family, and other relatives and friends. Miss Sharon Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Miller of 303 Oak street, celebrated her 16th birthday Monday. She is a junior at Decatur Catholic high school. Miss Carol Kiess, a junior at i Decatur high school, observed her 16th birthday Wednesday. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Kiess. 226 N. 7th street. Steven Steury and David Steury, of Amherst, 0., sons of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Steury of that city and grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Steury and Mr. and Mrs. John M. Doan of Decatur, left Thursday for California, where they will spend the summer with a surveyor’s crew in a redwood national forest. Steven will be a senior at Oberlin College next year, and David will be a sophomore at Ohio State University. John Dor win, recent graduate of Indiana University, arrived home by air from Baltimore, Md. Thursday afternoon. He left with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Deane T. Dorwin, for East St. Louis, 111., where he will work on a project of the Illinois Historical society in archeological research this summer. Van Wert Flower Show On Weekend The annual Van Wert county flower show specializing in peonies, will be held at the National Guard armory in that city Saturday and Sunday. Most peony varieties are expected to be in bloom on those dates in Van Wert and at the Wassenberg Gardens, miles east of the city. At 5:30 p.m. Sunday the area art exhibit sponsored by the Van Wert county art club will open at the Wassenberg art center, on South Washington street. A total of 139 works have been chosen for hanging. The show will be open to the public at that Mime, and from 2-9 p.m. June 17, 18, 24. and 25. Keller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Keller, Decatur, is announced today by the bride-elect’s mother. Miss Fisher is a recent graduate of Beaverdam high school. Keller, a graduate of Decatur high school, is employed as a draftsman by the Citizens Telephone company, Decatur. The couple will be marired at 2:30 p. m., June 25, in the Church of God, Decatur, with the Rev. Huston Sever, Jr., officiating. The custom of open church will be observed and a reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church.

Gary Cooper Estale To Wife, Daughter LOS ANGELES (UPD — The late Gary Cooper left the greater part of his more than sl-million estate in trust for his widow and daughter, according to his will admitted to probate Thursday. The will was admitted without protest by petition of attorney E. Harley Walther. Cooper died of cancer last May 13 at the age of 59. The document, dated Feb. 27, 1961, make provisions for his mother, Mrs. Alice L. Cooper, and left: —Bequests of $5,000 each to his brother, Arthur Cooper of Indio, Calif.; his nephew, Howard Cooper of Los Angeles; and a niece, Mrs. Marion Burton of Ohio. A gift of SIO,OOO to the Motion Picture Relief Fund for its county house and hospital. —A gift of SI,OOO to Our Lady of Gethesemane abbey in Kentucky. If there are no living relatives after the death of Cooper’s mother, his widow. Veronica, and daughter. Marie, the estate would be divided equally between the

Power Problem For City Os Portland The city of Portland is faced with a problem that perplexed Decatur several years ago. The question involves the decision of whether the city should buy all of its power from the Indiana and Michigan Electric Co. while keeping the distribution, or sell out completely to I & M. Presently I & M supplies about one-third of all power used in that city. A study is being considered by the city administration which-approximates the cost to Portland if I & M supplies full! power. Rev. John Mishler To Church Convention The Rev. John D. Mishler will be the delegate representing the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren at the annual conference for the denomination to be held at Long Beach, Calif., June 20-25. He will-’leave Sunday afternoon, to accompany others from the middle Indiana district who are traveling to this meeting. Approximately 1100 delegates will be representing the churches in the United States as well as overseas churches.
