PINOCHLE CLUB ENTERTAINS GUEST Members of the Decatur Pinochle club were guests of Mrs. Viola Dull in Wren, Ohio, Thursday evening. Mrs. Janice Thatcher was a guest of the club. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Gladys Keller, Mrs. Goldie Magley presided over the business meeting. The members have planned a dinner at the Fairway restaurant in June after which they wjll play cards at the’home of Mrs. Keller. Cards were played and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Louanna Banning, Esther Friend and Lois Kohne. Mrs. Friend also received the traveling prize. Mrs. Thatcher was assisted by Mrs. Dull in serving dessert and coffee. PAST MATRONS OF OES MEET IN FORT WAYNE The Past Matrons of the Decatur chapter of the Order of Eastern Star motored to Fort Wayne Thursday evening, where they were entertained by Mrs. Gene Hike in her new home. Mrs. Robert Macklin conducted the business meeting, during which arrangements were made for a picnic to be held July 6. A variety of games were played and each player was awarded a novel gift. Refreshments were served by the following committee: Mrs. Gene Hike, Mrs. Weldon Stucky, Mrs. Robert Macklin and Mrs. Elmo Stucky. MERRY MATRONS MEET WITH MRS. AMOS THIEME The Merry Matrons Home Demonstration club met at the home of Mrs. Amos Thieme recently. Mrs. Wilbert Thieme conducted the meeting which was opened with the repeating of the club creed. Devotions were given by Mrs. Otto Thieme, followed by the singing of the song of the month. Mrs. Carl Thieme and Mrs. Richard Marbach presented the lesson ‘Buying Becoming Clothes.” Mrs. Louise Krueckeberg gave the citizenship lesson on social security. Following the business meeting a tupperware party was held. Games were played and prizes awarded. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Otto Thieme. GOLDEN AGE GROUP HONORS MOTHERS AT MEETING ' The "Golden Age group ofthe Methodist church met at the country home of Mrs. D. C. Shady Thursday. The oldest mother present was 90 years old and the youngest was 51 years old. The president. Mrs. Helen Baughman, presided over the meeting. Hymns were sung with Mrs. Shady at the piano. Mrs. Hubert Zerkel, Sr., gave the devotions. using the theme “Presence” and “One Day at a Time.” Mr. and Mrs. Shady sang a duet. “My Mother’s Bible.” The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Dovie Bedwell June 15.

ANNUAL PARTY HELD BY CHURCH MOTHERS CLUB The Church Mothers Study club held their annual mothers’ party in the Methodist church lounge Tuesday evening. Fifteen members and their guests were present. Devotions were given by Marie Journay. Bonnie Lehman conducted a candlelight installation service which placed in office the following persons: president. Phyllis Eichenberger; vice president, Mary Beth Spence; secretary, Kathleen Johnson; treasurer. Hazel Brunner; and press reporter, Sara Lu Collier. The following program was then introduced by Mrs. Collier: Karen and Kristi Johnson sang a song entitled “Friends,” followed by a piano solo, “Brownie s Drill," by Carla Chew. Julia Zerkel sang “Wonderful Mother of Mine.” A piano solo, “I Love A Candy Cane.” was presented by Ronnie Journay. Bonnie Lehman and daughter Vicky presented the pianologue, “Angel." An alter adorned with white gladioli and pink majestic daisies provided the background for the double ring wedding ceremony which united in marriage Miss Judy Alice Hott and Gerald J. Baumann. The Rev. Hazen Sparks received the vows in the First Methodist Church at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Harold Hctt of 312 North Tenth street, Decatur and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Baumann of 821 North Eleventh street, Decatur, are the parents of the bridegroom. Mrs. J. Fred Fruchte presented the organ music preceding the ceremony. Selections were “To A Wild Rose" by MacDowell, “I Love You Truly” by Bend, and “Because” by D’Hardelot. “O Perfect Love” was played during the ceremony.— Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a ballerina length gown of chantilly lace and pure silk bombazine. The lace bodice featured a sabrina neckline and long lace sleeves tapered to points over her wrists. The princess line of the silk bombazine skirt was fashioned with soft pleats and scattered lace appliques over the skirt. Her bouffant veil of pure silk illusion was held by a crown of seed pearls and aurora borealis crystal. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses twined with ivy. Attending her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. Philip Krick of Indianapolis. She was gowned in a lace over taffeta street length gown of nile green. Her bodice featured a modified scoop neckline and tafetta ribbons at the tucked waistline. The bell shaped skirt was fashioned with soft pleats and hand clipped scalloped hem. Her headpiece was a matching

Tolly Housewives Home Demonstration club will meet Tuesday evening at 7:30 at the Pleasant Mills school. Note the change of date. The Women of the Moose will have their annual mother-daugh-ter banquet at the Moose home at 6:30 Thursday evening. Members may bring either their mother. daughter or one invited guest.

William Baumann, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Richard Baumann, brother of the bridegroom, seated the guests. For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Hott chose a royal blue shantung dress with white accessories. A green and white flowered silk dress with white accessories was worn by Mrs. Baumann. Both wore corsaes of pink rosebuds. The church lounge was the scene of the reception which was held at 3 p.m. with approximately 125 guests attending. The tables were covered with lace cloths and the bride’s table was centered with a four tiered wedding cake. Serving the guests were Miss Pat Baumann, sister of the groom, Miss Mary Alice Kneuss, Miss Carolyn Duncan of Goshen, and Miss Judy Kanne of Fair Oaks, friends of the bride. For their wedding trip to Wisconsin. Miss Baumann wore a champagne linen sheath dress with tangerine colored accessories, complemented by the corsage from her bridal bouquet.

Miss Marceda Whetstone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Whetstone. Decatur, has been awarded the title “Correct Posture Queen of Decatur” by the Indiana state chiropractic association, and will represent this city at Indianapolis June 3 for the final judging and crowning of “Correct Posture Queen of Indiana.” The state winner will attend the world crowning to be held in St. Louis, Mo., June 24. Miss Whetstone will graduate from Decatur high school this week and plans to further her education at Ball State Teachers’ College in the fall. At present, she is employed by Gerber’s Super Market and resides at 1121 Marshall street, Decatur, 89th birthday today. Miss Myrtle Vance Dies At Fort Wayne Miss Myrtle Vance, 57, a native of Geneva, died Sunday afternoon at her home in Fort Wayne, where she lived most of her life. Surviving are her father, Leslie Vance; two half-sisters, Mrs. Rhetta Boyd and Mrs. Betty Vance, all of Traverse City, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1 p. m. Wednesday in the Spiritualist Science church, with burial in the Hartford cemetery near Geneva. Friends may call at the Klaehn funeral home after 7 p. m. today.
