SALEM METHODIST W.S.C.S. MEETS RECENTLY The women of the Salem Methodist church. Women's Society of Christian Service, held their February meeting at the church recently. , The meeting was opened with devotions by Mrs. Roy Frank. Mrs. Frank read scripture from St. John 1:1-17, and an article from the prayer booklet. Mrs. Merle Riley closed the period with prayer. Mrs. Roy Miller was in charge of the lesosn "What is the Word?" and was assisted in the presentation by the Mesdames Charles Burkhart. Frank Myers and Claude Foreman. Mrs. Miller concluded the lesson with a poem. Mrs. Lawrence Carver and Mrs. Chester Bryan read topics from the “Methodist Woman." Following the dismissal prayer by'Mrs. Edward Tricker, the women were served refreshments' in the church parlors by the hostess, Mrs. Clair Kelsey. The society packed Valentine boxes of home made cookies to be sent to shut-ins and boys in the armed forces. MRS. AMY AUGHENBAUGH CELEBRATES 89TH BIRTHDAY Mrs. Amy Aughenbaugh quietly celebrated her 89th birthday in the sun roorh of the Adams county memorial hospital Friday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Those attending were Mrs. Zoa Hartman of Wallen, Mrs. Husta Siders, Mrs. Anna Wickliff of Fort Wayne and Mr%- Clara Dague of Decatur. A double ring, candle light wedding ceremony held in the Church of God of Willshire, Ohio, Saturday evening at* 6:30 united in marriage Miss Marilyn Jane Raudenbush and Stephen Arthur Irwin. The vows were received by the Rev. Jeff Webb before an altar adorned with baskets of white gladioli and mums. The service was preceeded by a musical performed by Larry Merriman, organist, and Dick Johnson. solosit. “I Love You Truly,” “Because," and “The Wedding Prayer" were among the selections presented. Given in marriage by her father. the bride appeared in a floor length gown of chantilly lace and silk mist taffeta. The basque bodice featured a sabrina neckline encruested with seed pearls and sequins. Long lace sleeves tapered to points over her wrists. The bouffant skirt was enhanced by lace appliques over the front which swept into the back with lace panels, ending in a chapel length train. A finger tip tell of pure silk illusion was held by a crown of aurora borelis and seed pearls. Miss Raudenbush carried red roses mounted on a white Bible. She also wore a strand of pearls, a gift from the groom. The maid of honor. Miss Kathryn Irwin, sister of the groom, was gowned in light blue organza over taffeta. The dress featured a fitted bodice and a full shirred skirtrA matching veil of light blue was worn and she carried a bouquet of white and blue colonials. Miss Patricia Johnson, cousin of the bride, served as bridesmaid, with Miss Sheryl Raudenbush. sister of the bride, as junior bridesmaid. Miss Debbie Johnson, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. All wore gowns styled identically to that of the honor attendant. A blue’dress with blue accessories accented by a corsage of pink carnations was wom by the mother of the bride at the wedding. The mother of the groom selected a green dress with black accessories. A corsage of white carnations complemented her ensemble. Ervin Ross was best man and the guests were ushered to their seats by Harold Irwin and Roger Roe. Joe Garner, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer. A reception, attended by approximately 200 guests, was held at the Willshire high school cafeteria following the ceremony. Blue candles and white mums composed the larger part of the decorations. The bride’s going away dress was a rose and black plaid sheath with which she wore black accessories. » The new Mrs. Irwin is a graduate of Pleasant Mills high school and is presently employed at the First State Bank of Decatur. Her husband was graduated from Pleasan Mills high school, also, and is an employe of the International Harvester Company in Fort Wayne. Tlie couple will reside on route 5, Decatur. DEBORAH CIRCLE ACCEPTS NEW MEMBER Mrs. James Shackley entertained the Deborah circle of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church recently at her home. Mrs. Dale Whetstone, the leader for the day. used the topic “Into All the World Together—Why Do We Go Forth?" She opened her study with a poem by George Santayana. Psalm 8 was read, along with a poem entitled “Love.” Mrs. Paul Johnson gave an article about the Bible from the “World Evangel.” The leader then read Psalm 16. Mrs. Whetstone gave the highlights of the study, “God's Purpose is our Destiny,” followed by Psalm 23- _ The lesson was dosed with the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Herald Hitchcock, chairman, conducted the business meeting. Thirteen members answered the roll and one new member, Mrs. Dan Simerman, was welcomed into the society. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ray Shackley,
