Another letter from Mrs. Gerald Gerig. president of the central district of the M.C.A., which included ideas of things that may be done for the missionaries, was! also read. Mrs. Myron Hart was in charge of the devotions which were closed with prayer by Mrs. Mervin Rupp. The remainder of the evening was spent rolling bandages and painting tea towels. Lovely refreshments were served by the co-hostess, Mrs. Lawfrence Von Gunten, assisted by Mrs. Idlewine. • DAVID GERBER CELEBRATES NINTH BIRTHDAY SUNDAY Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gerber entertained with a turkey dinner Sunday in honor of their son, David’s, ninth birthday. A cake adorned with nine candles and a miniature replica of the Lone Ranger on his house. Silver, was served to the guests. Those present included the honored guest’s grandmothers, Mrs. M. E. Hower and Mrs. Lydia M. Foughty of Decatur, an aunt. The Deborah circle of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church will meet with Mrs. James Shackley at 7:30 Thursday evening. Mrs. Dale Whetstone will be the leader. So Cha Rae will have a dessert bridge at the home of Mrs. Don Zeser Thursday evening at 7:30. Unit 3 of the Bethany church will meet Thursday evening with Mrs. EarF Fuhrman, 415 Stratton Way. A marriage ceremony read at 10 a. m. Tuesday, December 27, at Wilkes-Barre, Pa., united in marriage Miss Joyce Ann Tyndall and Albert A. Sholtis, both of Long Beach, Calif. ~ The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Ralph Tnydall, 127 East Wiley Ave. in Bluffton, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert D. Sholtis of WilkesBarre, Pa. Red poinsettias and evergreens decorated the altar of the St. Nicholas Roman Catholic church where the double-ring ceremony was read by the Rev. John Bonner. Mrs. Mary Marzen of Wil-kes-Barre. Pa., furnished the nuptial music. Given in marriage by her brother, John Philip Tyndall of Bluffton, the bride appeared in a gown of mira-mist silk taffeta. The sabrina neckline, outlined in alencan lace, was embroidered with sequins and the bodice was completed with three-quarter length sleeves. A pleated cummerbund, tied in back with a large butterfly bow, topped the bouffant skirt. Her fingertip veil was held by a crown of sequins and she carried a modified -swing bouquet of four w'hite orchids and nylon net. Royal blue taffeta fashioned the gown w'orn by Miss Kathlpen Sholtis, sister of the bridegroom, who acter as maid of honor. The gown featured a boat shaped neckline, long sleeves and a fitted bodice. The gathered skirt was topped by a pleated cummerbund. A double bow headband of matching taffeta held her circular veil and she carried a swing bouquet of red roses. She is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Her husband is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and is employed by North American Aviation at Downey, Calif. At 11:58 p.m. Sunday, Ted and Alice Brunnegraff Eyanson of 205 Park’ Place, Decatur, became the parents of an eight pound, four ounce baby boy. An eight pound, five ounce baby girl was bom at 1:25 a.m. today to Eugene and Sandra Gase Butcher of 915 Indiana street, Decatur. A baby boy weighing seven pounds, twelves ounces was born to Chuck and Gloria Edwards Truesdale of route 10, Fort Wayne, at 2:45 a m. today. Harold and Marie Rager Steffen of route 6, Decatur, became the parents of a seven pound, six and one half ounce baby boy at 5:46 a.m. today. Decatur Barracks Meets Wednesday A regular meeting of Stephen A. Decatur Barracks No. 1369, W. W. I Veterans, will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the V.F.W. hall. Emery Boyd, 4th district commander of Angola, will install the newly elected officers of the group. All members and World War I veterans are invited and urged to attend. Eichenauer Winner Os Booster Award Max Eichenauer, junior guard for the Decatur Yellow Jackets, was named to the Booster club assist and "break ■ up" plays award, following Friday night’s victory over Angola. While Eichenauer won the assists and “break-up” award, the rebounding presentation was a three-way tie between Dennis Bollenbacher. Bob Walters, and John Cowan. Bollenbacher and Walters are juniors in the Decatur lineup, while Cowan is a senior. For Walters, it was his fifth straight rebounding award.
Five Schools Win Superior Ratings Five Adamis county schools, Decatur, Adams Central, Monmouth, Pleasant Mils, and Berne-French, won 23 superior ratings at the annual northern Indiana school bard, orchestra, and vocal association music contest at Central high school in Fort Wayne Saturday. The local groups were among more than 1,500 students from 98 area schools taking part. Students receiving super br ratings in Divisions I. 11, and 111 will compete in the state cst sched uled Feb. 18 at Butler University, Indianapolis. Decatur Winner A Decatur high school vocal ensemble, group 11, received a superior award, including the following girls: Peggy Hill, Janet Miller, Joyce Helm, Susan Mayclin, Barb- n Harr t, and Kathy Schultz. Karen Grice, Piano, Group 111, of Decatur high school, and Vickie Lehman, Piano Group V, of Lincoln school, also received superiors.. Harry Bollenbacher, of Decatur high school, received an excellent ratine in piano. Pleasant Mills, Monmouth Judy Hakes, of Pleasant Mills, received a superior rating in group IV, piano. Other Pleasant Mills superior ratings were won by Gale Riley, piano group III; sextet, in girls vocal ensemble group III; and duet, Boys vocal ensemble, Group 111.

Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Hendricks and son of Dayton, Ohio, were the Sunday supper guests of Mrs.' ; Hendrick’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Affolder of Ossian. Miss Cheri Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Jacobs of Decatur, will serve as a page in the house of representatives at Indii anapolis Wednesday. She will be I a page for state representative ‘ Burl Johnson. Cheri is a seventh grade student at Lincoln school. Cleo Bebout of Monroe was dismissed Friday from the Clinic hospital in Bluffton.

Maria de Francesca of Chicago won first and Elizabeth Swanson, 24, Chicago, second 39 singers from Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. Wolf Lake Youth Is Accidentally Slain MARION, Ind. ( UPI >— Douglas Berry, 16, route 3, Wolf Lake, was shot fatally Saturday night in his grandfather’s home here by a bullet from a pistol in the hands of his cousin, Ronnie Armfield, 15, Gas City. Authorities said the youths were examining the gun, owned by William Berry, Sr, which they had taken from a drawer.
