Mr and Mrs Isaac G. Mendez, of 833 North Thirteenth street. Decatur, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their youngest daughter, Rita, to David A. Vargas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ravmond Vargas of Yorktown, Tex. Miss Mendez, a graduate of Decatur Catholic high school, is employed bv the Lincoln Life Insurance Co. of Fort Wayne. Her fiance, formerly of Yorktown, Tex., is employed by Hagerman Construction in Fort Wayne. Vows will be recited January 28 in the St. Mary's Catholic church of Decatur.
LOCALS Sue Merriman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Merriman, returned to Indiana Central College at Indianapolis Monday, where she is a sophomore. Driver Is Arrested Following Accident Peter Paul Clark, 23, 122 S. 14th street, will appear in J. P. court at 7 p.m. January 7 on a charge of reckless driving, which was levied against him following an accident at 1:55 a.m. Sunday in Decatur. The engagement of Miss Carolyn Sue Amstutz to Gary W. Millington, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Millington of route 5, Decatur, has been announced by her mother, Mrs. M. N. Amstutz of 521 South Thirteenth street, Decatur. Miss Amstutz is a graduate of Decatur high school and is presently attending the Fort Wayne Bible College. Millington was graduated from Pleasant Mills high school and is an employe of Decatur Industries. No date has been set for the wedding.
BIRTH Peter and Bettyjean Sotile, Jr. of 516 Stratton Way, became the parents of a six pound, fifteen ounce baby boy at 3:47 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sotile, Sr., of Scotia, N.Y., are the paternal grandparents. Mrs. B. J. Skipworth of Detroit, Mich., is the eat-grand-mother. At the Adams county memorial hospital: Richard A. and Barbara Lash Braun of route 2, Decatur, are the parents of a baby girl weighing eight pounds, fifteen ounces. The baby was born at 11:48 a.m. Satturday. A six pound, four ounce baby girl was born to Samuel L. and Joyce Petrie Bell of 521 South Thirteenth street, Decatur, at 11:16 a m. today.

Fined $100, Given Suspended Sentence Kenneth Thomas Radcliffe, 55, a former Mishawaka resident who lives south of Decatur on the Wil-1 low Bend curve, was fined $100 and costs and given a six months suspended sentence in the Adams circuit court this morning on three separate charges. Radcliffe was arrested at 7:25 Saturday night on S. Thirteenth street by city police officers Raymond Seitz and Jay Minch for drunken driving, reckless driving, and public intoxication.
