I set for June 6. The committee is 1 starting to plan for this event. : I Tri Kappa’s Christmas party will be December 20 at the Bethany United Brethren church. The January business meeting has been set for January 3. DINNER HELD AT PREBLE RESTAURANT The annual Christmas party of the St. Gerard study club was held Monday evening at the Preble restaurant, where everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner. Following the dinner, games were played and an exchange of gifts was| held.
Those'attending the party were Mrs. Ed Hackman, Mrs. Lee. Miller, Mrs. Dan Kwasrieski, Mrs. Andy Miller, Mrs. Ed Linder, Mrs. Joe Loshe, Mrs. Jim Roop, Mrs. Paul Kohne, Mrs. Medford Smith, Mrs. Bill Mansfield, Mrs. Dick DejJean, Mrs. Bill Butler, and Mrs. Joe Beauchot, Guests included Mrs. Betty Wellman, Mrs. Frances Gruss and Mrs. Jean Rauch. ART DEPARTMENT HAS CHRISTMAS PARTY Nineteen members of the Art department of the Decatur Woman’s club met for their regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Leo Curtin Monday evening. ! Following the business meeting, Mrs. Curtin read “Let’s Keep Christmas” by Peter Marshall, to the enjoyment of the group. 1 The group then sang Christmas carols and a gift exchange was . held. The committee, consisting of i Mrs. Curtin, Mrs. Lois Black and ; j Mrs. M. A. Frisinger, served deI licious refreshments. > The city council of Beta Sigma ; Phi sorority, met at the home of Mrs. Gladys Keller Tuesday evening. The meeting was called to order after, which the treasurer’s report was given, bills were submitted and motions were made that they be paid. The next meeting will be held January 3, 1961. YULETIDE DINNER IS GREATLY ENJOYED —< Twenty-three active members and one honorary member of the Music department met for their annual Christmas party, a buffet dinner held at the Youth and Community Center, Monday evening. A trio composed of Linda Jackson, Alice Roth and Mrs. Richard Linn sang the grace. The dining room was beautifully decorated in keeping with the Christmas season. Gifts were placed on a table which held a gold tree with hand decorated Christmas ornaments suspended from it. The ornaments were later given to each member as a favor. The dining tables were decorated with holly, green tapers, and jeweled Christmas balls, made by Mrs. Linn. A miniature sleigh, filled with pink and white carnations, tiny pink reindeer and gold tapers enhanced the serving table. Following the dinner, the members rehearsed their Christmas

program for the general meeting on December 19. Dessert and coitee were served following the rehearsal. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Richard Linn, Mrs. Ferris Bower, Mrs. Robert Macklin and Miss Alice Roth. WSWS Unit 2 of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church will meet with Mrs. Kenneth DeArmond Friday evening at 7:30. Mrs. Francis Howard will be program chairman and Mrs. Glen Custer will be assisting hostess. The Tri-County organic gardening and farming club of Northeastern Indiana will have a meeting Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Marie Emenhiser of Hoagland. This will be an edu-| cational meeting with a panel discussion for members and anyone interested in natural foods. The? new by-laws of the club and theic definition of organics will be read.: Anyone interested in growing oj* obtaining their foods from living? soil will enjoy this meeting. AI pot luck supper will follow the meeting. Memberships are open and anyone interested will be welcome at the meeting or they may call Marvin Schumann, 8745, Monroeville. The Kirkland Ladies club will have their annual Christmas pot luck dinner at the Adams Central cafeteria Monday at 6:15 p.m. The Priscilla Circle of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church will meet Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock with Mrs. Frank Bohnke. Mrs. Ruth Williams will be the leader. The Olive Rebekah lodge will have a pot luck supper Tuesday evening at 6 o’clock. Those attending are asked to bring their own table service and a 50-cent gift for the exchange. Lodge will follow the supper at 7:30. The Kirkland WCTU will meet with Mrs. Katherine Ehrman Tuesday afternoon at 1:30. The Lydia Circle of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church will meet Wednesday afteri noon at 1 o’clock at the county home. Mrs. Frank Kitson Will bd | hostess. The leader will be Mrsl Lloyd Kitson. The Women’s Association of the Presbyterian church will meet WjSinesday, December 15, at 8 I d’Clock at the church. Expenses Are Filed By Five Candidates A total of five mare candidates in the November election have filed their election expenses as of today, which is the filing deadline. ” Three Democrats who were victorious in the past election are among the five. Edward F. Jaberg, auditor, filed expenses totaling $493.87, while Adams circuit judge Myles F. Parrish filed $280.26 expenses, and Delmas Bolleribacher, who will become the new county commissioner for the 3rd district, filed expenses ofi $286.75. Republican Karl F. Parrish was called to Wells county today to act as special judge in the case of Sanderson vs. Harshman. The case is an action for damages and injunction for construction of a tile drain. Ed Suttles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Suttles, has returned to his home to complete recovery after an emergency appendectomy. Ed, who had been troubled with stomach pains for a day, was taken to the doctor and then to the hospital. He is reported to be making very satisfactory recovery. Melvin Wall, of Geneva, recently assigned to Whitley county as a state trooper, began work there Monday. He expects to locate in or near Columbia City. Mrs. Effie Duff, of Geneva route . one, hast been admitted to the Wells county hospital. Amok Gerbey, a former £taigville resident, was unanimously elected to the Bluffton school board to fill the vacancy created by the death of Dr. Harry D. Brickley. A car driven by Hubert Cochran, 69, of Decatur, struck a wandering steer on highway 27 about 2 1 4 1 miles north of Portland Wednesday, completely ruining the front end of the car. The steer was owned by the Portland stock yards. The Dunbar Furniture Company of Berne was named defendant in ' a $504,200 damage suit filed in the ■ superior court of Los Angeles, Calif., by W. Wes Williams, who • charges that the defendant corporation, along with Grover W and John H. Sprunger, illegally abrogated an agreement under which
