STANLEY. 272 It New Foolball Loop Plans Player Draft DALLAS. Tex. (UPD — American Football League will hold a “partial” player draft this weekend when the loop club owners get together for a long-dis-tance telephone meeting. AFL Commissioner Joe Foss said the draft would be conducted through his office with results to be announced Monday. Each club will make six selections. Although the draft will be conducted before the closing of the collegiate football season, Foss said he had warned club owners not to sign players who have not completed their college eligibility. i “I personally will void any AFL contract signed before the player has completed his collegiate football eligibility,” Foss said. “And this includes bowl games.” Purpose of the early draft, he said, was to allow clubs to make their top selections and enable them to concentrate on scouting players of less well-known ability. The remainder of the league's draft will be conducted “sometime in December,” Foss said. I HOP LAWN WSMW PROTECT RMNMTMM WSPRED RMMte tteooa ended the tefi immo it hTiCrJSS* —Ms wM> ImWU Ofe. Purdue Guarding Old Oaken Bucket LAFAYETTE, Ind. (UPD—Purdue University Is determined to prevent a repeat performance which caused red faces prior to the Purdue-Indiana football game here two years ago when the Old Oaken Bucket was stolen. Purdue Army ROTC honor guard cadets are standing twoman hour shifts around the clock as the prized token of football victory between the universities is put on a rare public display. Purdue has been in possession of the “bucket" the last 12 years by virtue of either defeating or tying 1 the Hoosiers on the gridiron. In 1958, a group of IU students j “stole” the prized symbol and kept it for several days before 1 returning it. The bucket was in 1 easy access to burglars in the Purdue Fieldhouse at the time. i In keeping with the tradition of ( honor guards and honor-bound I watchdogs, the cadets arc forbid- 1 den from speaking to curious per- < sons who come to view the Old Oaken Bucket. — College Basketball Oakland City 73, Vincennes 58.
