Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Schamerloh —Photo by Anspaugh Couple Clo (Celebrate CJrftietli Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Schamerloh of 1010 West Monroe street, Decatur, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, with an open house reception at the Zion parish hall. The Schamerlohs have lived in Adams county for 20 years, where he was formerly occupied in farming. The couple were married October 23, 1910, in the St. John’s Lutheran church with the Rev. H. C. Jaus officiating. They are the parents of three children, Arthur Schamerloh of Fort Wayne, Frederick Schamerloh of route 5, Decatur, and Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Ashbaucher of Decatur; and have eight grandchildren. The open house reception will take place from 2 to 5 p. m. and a dinner for invited guests will follow at 6 o’clock.

NOTICE ON PHOTOS Due to a change in the method of engraving, all engagement and wedding pictures must be submitted for publication at the exact size at which they will be reproduced —that is, four inches wide—starting Nov. 1. All pictures larger than four inches will be clipped at the sides to reduce them to that size; all smaller than four inches will appear at the size submitted. WESLEYAN SERVICE GUILD MEETS The Wesleyan Service Guild of the First Methodist church met in the church chapel Tuesday evening. Miss Joyce Helm played “Melody in Joy,” on the electric organ. Miss Bernice Nelson gave the devotions which were based on the emblem of the Wesleyan Service Guild. Miss Wilma Andrews and Mrs. Harriett Mills assisted her by placing each symbol which had been chosen for an important reason on a gold background to form a whole unified emblem. After candles were lit in front of the large emblem, Mrs. Hazen Sparks sang, “How Great Thou Art.” She was accompanied by Miss Joyce Helm on the organ. Mrs. Kathryne Nelson gave the evening lesson entitled. "Living Echoes.” The following guests were welcomed by the president, Mrs. Kathryn Helm, Mrs. Milton Swearingen. Mrs. Charles Houk, Miss Kay Daugherty and Mrs. John Mazelin. Delicious refreshments were served by Mrs. Catherine Beavers, Mrs. Donna Rawley and Mrs. Amanda Steury in the church lounge, which was beautifully decorated with fall arrangements of gourds, corn and bittersweet. The next meeting will be held November 15 in the form of a program given by the Guild for the parents of the Adams county home. JAPANESE FLORAL ARRANGEMENT SHOWN Twenty-one members of the Decatur Garden club met with Mrs. Amos Ketchum recently. During the meeting it was decided to send a gift to one man and one woman who are mentally ill. Mrs. Yost and Mrs. Lehman were appointed to purchase the gifts. Arrangements werd made to attend the northeast district of the Garden club meeting in Columbia City in the near future. Mrs. Lutes provided a demonstration on Japanese flower arrangements. LADIES AID CELEBRATES MEMBER’S BIRTHDAY The Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Ladies Aid met for their regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Carl Lichtenberger recently. Mrs. Paul Hindenlang, president, was in charge of the meeting. The scripture was read by Mrs. lona Shifferly. Mrs. Harry Hamrick, secretary, read the minutes of last month's meeting. The organization voted to buy paint for the church basement in the near future. Mrs. Bernice Darr gave a reading entitled “More Victory," and “A Little Honey,” was read by Mrs. lona Shifferly. The meeting was closed with the Lord's Prayer. “Happy Birthday” was sung tc Mrs. Darr, who also received gifts from her secret pal and several others. A birthday cake and coffee was served to the seven members and six visitors by the hostess Mrs. Lichtenberger. FEDERATION OF CLUBS TO HAVE CONVENTION The eighth district convention of the Indiana Federation of clubs will hold their 53rd convention in Bluffton Thursday, October 27 at the Methodist church with registration opening at 9 a.m. and convening at 9:30 a.m. Mrs. R. C. Graham, state president, of Bourbon, Mrs. David Martin, second vice president, of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Wm. Dudenhoffer, third vice president, of Jonesboro, will be in attendance with messages from all. The district chairman will give the outline for the next two years of Federation work and aims. All club women are urged to attend. Registrations may be called to Mrs. Leo Curtin, phone 3-2488, not later than noon Monday, October 24. Transportation will be provided. Indianapolis Man Killed In Accident INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — Matthew Young, 56, Indianapolis, was killed today when his -ear swerved out of control and struck a utility pole at a city street intersection. 30 Shaken Up When Car Hits School Bus VALPARAISO, Ind. (UPI) — Thirty pupils were shaken up and three of them checked at a hospital when a car rammed into the rear of a school bus which had stopped at a railroad crossing Wednesday. Injured in the crash was Loretta Rahmel, 37. Valparaiso, a passenger in the car. The bus was driven by Richard Grass, 39, Valparaiso. The accident happened on Indiana 2.
