Seek Expansion Os Overseas Markets WASHINGTON <UPl>—The newly formed U.S. Feed Grains Council made plans Wednesday for a sharply expanded overseas market promotion drive aimed at finding new customers for American corn and other animal feeds Walter W. Goeppingter, Boone. lowa, farmer, was phosen president of the group as it wound up a two-day meeting here today after meetings with government and congressional leaders. R.G. Peeler, Hereford. Tex., was chosen first vice president, “We’re now producing about 161 million tons of feed grains each yeafe’ and .using about 156 million domestically and in export,” Goeppinger said. “If We can expand our exports from 12 to 17 million tons we’ll have all the slack Taken out.’’ Goeppinger is also president of the National Corn Growers Assn., one of the founding members of the new feed council. Peeler is past president of another founding group, the Grain Sorghum Producers Assn. Goeppinger said the council was formed earlier this month in a meeting at Kansas City, Mo„ because grain industry leaders saw the need for a coordinated rnarket development campaign in cooperation with the Agriculture Department's Foreign Agricultural Service. , The eorn and grain sorghum producer groups are already collaborating with the FAS in joint promotion campaigns in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Japan. . The now grata council, including the two producer groups as well as representatives of grain elevators, exporters, feed manuand feed additive maker, and seed producers, will coordinate awi expand these pro-> grams, Goeppinger said. j CALL US FOR GRAIN PRICES' BEFORE SELLING.
