FATHER'S DAY DINNER HELD AT DUTCH MILL The Sunday school class, taught by Mrs. Charles Shoaf, of the St Paul Missionary church, enjoyed a Father's day dinner at the Dutch Mill restaurant in Bluffton, at which the wives were hostess to the husbflhds. The table was centered with an orange cake in the shape of a man's hat. flanked on either side by bouquets of calandulas and galardias. - child, and Ralph Martin. LADY BUG HUNT HELD RECENTLY The Lady Bugs held a hunt at which seven members were present recently. A round table discussion was held. Delegates and alternates to the majestic hunt, which will be held in Detroit in August, were elected. Delegates are Mrs. Robert Butler and Mrs Wayne Fisher, and alternates are Mrs. Harry Martz and Mrs. Delbert Augsburger. Final plans were completed for! the picnic which is to be held with , the cooties July 24 at the Harry Martz farm. Mrs. Robert Butler served refreshments following the hunt. All members of the VFW ladies auxiliary are requested to meet at the post home tonight at 8 o - clock. The group will then go to the funeral home to pay respects to Mrs Elizabeth Allen and Raymond Kramer. The Eagles auxiliary will meet at 8 o'clock tonight at the Eagles hall. The Monroe WCTU will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of Mrs. Jack Mcßride. The Good Will industries truck will be in Decatur Thursday. Kramer, who died suddenly Monday. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeon Schmitt will officiate, and burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today until time of the services. The Holy Name society will recite the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the Eagles lodge will hold memorial . services at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, , both at the funeral home. No Damage Caused By Fire On Monday The fire department was called to a fire at Adams Builders' Supply at 5:15 p.m. Monday. The gasoline truck pump was knocked over by someone driving a truck. Central Soya Union Plans Picnic July 4 Since the Fourth of July Picnic has been cancelled by the Central Soya recreational association, the local union voted at the last meeting to sponsor the Fourth of July; picnic. This picnic is for the union, members and their families or sweethearts. If for some reason the member cannot attend, his family is welcome. Please show membership card at gate. This picnic is not for married children, children away from home, other relatives or guests; they will be turned away v The union will furnish barbecued, beef and wiener sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, soft drinks and ice cream: table service such as paper plates, etc. and entertainment will also be furnished. Serving will begin at 11:30 a.m. Exchange Student Ends Decatur Stay Mr. and Mrs. Robert Heller, son Dan and daughter-Mary Pat, have returned from Indianapolis, after taking Terje Strom, Decatur’s exchange student from Norway, there on the final phase of his American visit. Terje will travel by bus through Kentucky, Tennessee. North Carolina, Virginia and Washington. D.C. All of the exchange students in this area will take the tour before returning home. Terje will leave by Jet airliner the latter part of August to return home. He will be met by his parents, and then the Strom family will totir western Europe, with a stop at Obberamergau for the world-famous Passion play

Train Educators In Airborne Television BLOOMINGTON. Ind <UPD — The first of a two-month series of workshops To acquaint 1.500 educators in suw-Midwest states with a plan for airborne television instruction has begun at Indiana University and Miami University. Oxford. Ohio. Similar skull -ssions will take place at other schools during July and August regarding a program being developed at Purdue University to beam video - taped courses from an airplane to schools in Indiana. Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan. Ohio and Wisconsin beginning Jan. 30. 1961. Miss Martha Gable, director of radio-television inthe Philadelphia, Pa., public school system told the I U. workshop Monday that television instruction is no cure-all for mass education. Despite the fact that TV classroom instruction has been highly successful, she key to success still lies with the classroom teacher. Other workshops will be held: July if: Indiana State Teachers College; University of Notre Dame and Northwestern University. July 18: Butler University; DePaul University, Chicago: University-’ of Louisville, and University of Kentucky. Col Harold S Zeis, superintendent of the Indiana state police. ’ will arrive in Decatur Monday by I helicopter to speak at the banquet, Monday evening at the rural mail carriers’ convention. He will speak to the carriers about safety, in conjunction with his talk, a mobile. safety exhibit, about the size of a bus, will be in Decatur. The mobile exhibit Will have in it outstanding pictOrbs of some fantastic traffic accidents and other exhibits on safety. Zeis is a native of Fort Wayne, and has been in the law enforcement profession since 1935 He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and recently served two terms as sheriff of Allen! county. He left the sheriffs job in January of 1957. when he became superintendenTflf the Indiana state police department. Zeis is an advocate of police training and has completed many special police training courses.. including the federal bureau of in-! vestfgation, national academy He has served as president of the Indiana sheriffs' association and in that capacity was responsible for jetting the sheriffs of the 92 counties in uniform and the standard marking and color for sheriffs’ : cars.
