demonstration chorus will leave Tuesday morning and return that evening. The theme of this year s conference is “To Market, To Market “ There will be many classes and sessions for the women to attend and on Wednesday the annual business of the Indiana home demonstration association will be held. Also included on the program is a “Salad Buffet" and the opportunity for the women to see the musical play "The Lute Song.” The women will return to the County Wednesday evening. SPEAKMAN-KELSEY VOWS SPOKEN Palms and flowers bedecked the Wren Church of the Nazarene in Which the double ring wedding ceremony of Leah Arlene Speakman and Ronald Lee Kelsey took place June 1. The Rev. Kenneth Noonan officiated in the speaking of the vows. The wedding music was provided by Larry Merriman and Mrs. Lgvonne Speakman. The bride appeared in a lovely blue suit accented by a white hat and pink roses. Maid of honor. Miss Ellamae Speakman, wore; a pink dress featuring a "V” neck. A pink headpiece and an orchid set off her costume nicely. For their children’s wedding, both mothers appeared in tan dresses and white carnation corsages. Jerry Kelsey, brother of the groom, was best man, with Master David Speakman, brother of the bride, and Master Bruce Kelsey, brother of the groom, acting as ushers.

GRADUATES FROM PURDUE • WITH DISTINCTION” Miss Evelyn Doehrman. daughter of Mr. and Mrs E. C. Dochrman. route 1. Decatur, graduated Sunday. June 5. from Purdue University with a bachelor of science degree Miss Doehrman graduated with distinction. In order to so graduate the student must have completed a minimum of seventy hours at Purdue University, and in no case have less than a 5.00 index (Miss Doehrman’s was 5 54> out of a possible 6.00. The top ten per cent of the candidates for each degree are then selected to graduate “with distinction. Evelyn Doehrman is a member of Delta Rho Kappa, a scholastic honorary. Just before graduation she was presented the Phi Lambda Upsilon senior scholarship award of 1960 at Purdue. At graduation time she was awarded the 1960 American institute of chemists award as the outstanding chemistry graduate in the Purdue Uni» versity class of 1960. At the present time. Miss Doehrman is visiting with her sister and brother-in-law. Mr. and Mrs David Graef, in Los Angeles, Calif. She has accepted a position in the research laboratories of the Ethyl Corp., Detroit, Mich., where she will start working the early part of July.
MRS.’ DEWAYNE AGLER HONORED WITH SHOWER Mrs. Dewayne Agler. the former Diane Kohli, bride of May 28. was honored with a miscellaneous bridal shower Monday evening, June 6, given by Mrs. Robert Shaw, sister of the bride, at the home of Mrs. P. B. Kohli. Upon her arrival the honored guest was presented with a corsage of lavendar mums. The room in which the shower took place was beautifully decorated with lavendar and white streamers and white bells. Refreshments of cake, ice cream, punch and nut-cups were served. During the evening games were played and prizes awarded to Phyllis Singleton, Sharon Mattax, Donna Cauble, Mary Jane Shaw and Annie Singleton, who then gave them to Mrs. Agler. HOLDS MEETING Mrs. Austin Merriman, president of the Salem Woman's Society of Christian Service, opened the June meeting with the devotional period. The scripture was taken from| the book of Matthew. Mrs. Arthur Young gave the prayer. The study lesson, “Set apart for me,” was given by Mrs. Carl! Schug. The president then read a ■ letter from Maxine Coleman, a 1 missionary who is stationed at Tandur, India, and also gave the closing grayer. A practice volleyball session will be held by the Adams county rural youth Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hartford high school. Team members will be chosen to participate in the district volleyball tournament. The BYB class of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church will meet Thursday at 7:30 at the church. Registration for the • summer music classes will .begin at 8 a m. Wednesday. AH children of the public school who will be in the fourth grade through the twelfth grade next year are eligible. The high school gym will be used for registration. The Pleasant Mills Methodist W.S.C.S. will meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Benoit Johnson.
