The organization generally has opposed administration farm policies. Patton praised Eisenhower's recent call for a meeting of top labor and management spokesmen He said this ‘‘brings into even sharper focus the fact that American Farmers have an increasinly urgent need to bring their problems to your personal attention.'’ Patton, whose organization has hacked proposals to control farm production and raise price supports said farmers are being put through “a giant economic wringer.” At the same time, he said, they are being blamed for rising retail food prices. He noted that net farm income for the first three months of 1960 had been estimated by the President’s Council of Economic Advisers at an annual rate of $lO.800.000.000. This is $2,400,000,000 below the rate for the first quarter last year. Agriculture Secretary Ezra T. Benson has said, however, that farm income will rise later this year with improving hog and egg nrices. Patton added in his letter that “regretably, the organizations which have been serving American farmers for many years have been effectively, prevented from presenting problems to you or advising you.” The farm leader said the proposd White House meeting could call national attention to the farm problem and “bring out constructive solutions.” He said Congress is considering such solution put is hampered by the “completely negative attitude” of the administration. Reject Allocation For Work On Ditch All allocation for work on the Amstutz-Teeter ditch by contractor John T. Camden was temporarily turned down Monday by the county commissioners because the ditch fund has only SB4 in it. Actually the money is on hand treasurer’s! office, but it cannot be appropriated by the commissioners until after the spring distribution of taxes, usually made the first week in June. The Amstutz-Teeter ditch drains part of Wabash township through Berne and much of Monroe township, and flows into the St. Mary s river. DON'T TAKE A CHANCE .. JAMIE < - PLENAMINS Smith Drug Co.

Former Hoosier Vet Enters Guilty Plea WINSTON-SALEM N C. »UP!> —Dr. Richard A Spring. 80. a former Indiana veterinarian, pleaded guilty to bank robbery charger in Federal Court here Monday, tut the plea of his alleged accomplice was delayed pending appointment of legal counsel. Spring, who once treated race horses at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, and Eldon E. Brown.: both of Frankton. Ind . were arraigned at the opening of the U. S. District Court term. Spring pleaded guilty to charges of robbing a branch of the Wachovia Bank & Trust Co., here last Dec. 7 and escaping with $8 864. Brown, who once worked for the veterinarian in Indiana, asked Judge Erwin M. Stanley to appoint an attorney to defend him. His plea was held up. Brown was charged in the same holdup. Federal agents said Spring also admitted a $13,338 robbery of an Anderson. Ind., bank in February. Authorities quoted Spring as saying he turned to robbery because he was living beyond his means and needed money to get out of debt. --w , ; ~~ — •maamrw" mwasw
