One of the biggcwt problems of modem thing is the feet that modern men and women, working hard ever) day. with children to look after, club* to at* tend, yards and home* to repair and keep up. don't take the time to go to church and prayer Menkes like they used to. Now a church in town is pioneering a tie# "aid" for those who would like a minute or so of rrktAing prayer sometime or anytime during the day or nimd. The First Christian Church, under the leadership of its pastor, the Rev. Edward Pacha, has inaugurated, on a trial basis, a 75-second telephone prayer service. A Citizens Telephone line is tied into a 75-second tape recorder, which starts when you call 3-3158. For busy businessmen who need a minute of relaxation. for those who are bothered at night and can't sleep, turning to God has long been recognized as the best and only answer. Some like the added encouragement they get when another leads them in prayer, but hesitate to go personally to their pastor and ask for help, because of the later hour, or the time, etc. This new service will allow them to pick up the telephone, dial 3-3158, and listen to a soothing prayer, joining in as they would in church. The pressure of modem living often takes us away from God. The new telephone service is not a substitute for church, but a daily adjunct to use with regular attendance at the church of your , choice. It is a 20th century way of meeting the challenge of space-age fast living, where every precious minute - rescued for God counts. If the telephone prayer proves popular, it will undoubtedly be continued. Try it and see what you think of it.
