Political Leaders On TV Show Tonight . Ry VERNON SCOTT t’PI Hollywood Correspondent HOLLYWOOD <UPl>—The moat unusual cast in TV history can be seen tonight when Vice President Richard Nixon. Sen. John Kennedy. Gov. Nelson Rockefeller and Adtai Stevenson “star" on the same show Thc*e four political leaders will appear on the “Ford Startime iNBC-TVi show to agree on a single theme: “Get out and vote.” It may be the first and last time the distinguished gentlemen agree on anything until after the November elections Responsible for lining up this array of “talent" is producer Dore Schary, an active Democrat, who personally supervised and wrote the hour-long program tith'd. “Well. What about You?" I "The show is free of partisan politics," Schary explained. "It’s !perfectly balanced and fair to everyone. "I wrote the individual statements for everyone except Governor Roakcfeller who insisted on saying things his own way. And I must admit he did a fine job." How did Schary go about signing up his stars ? He began with Kennedy and Stevenson, both personal friends of the producer. They agreed to the idea readily. Next he contacted Vice. President’Nixon’s office, and was told the veep, would go along. At first Rockefeller's advisors refused, but later came ' around “We taped the individual segments over a period of about two weeks," Schary said. “They were most cooperative. “Mr. Stt-vensun will read an editorial from Walt Whitman. Senator Kennedy wiH quote.from Mark Twain, and Vice President Nixon reads a statement from Teddy Roosevelt. Governor Rockefeller speaks for himself. “J think their brief talks will be most effective in getting out the vote. Each segment was made individually. They do not appear together.” The balance of the show is fileld with such entertainers as Eddie Abert, Polly Bergen. Mike Wallace, Marion Anderson and Fred Clark.
