' V Kftit fa Preble Peppy Pal* The Preble Peppy Pals held their second meeting of the year recently at the Friedheim Lutheran school. A demonstration was given by Judy Bultemeier and Sherril Heckman on how to make cherry pudding. The meeting was opened by the president. Judy Bultemeier. Pledges were led by the president and Russel Fuhrman. Following roll call, the treasurer and secretary’s reports were read and approved. Old and new business was then discussed. Kay Bultemeier, song leader, led the group in songs and Dianne Fuhrman gave a health and safety report. Refreshments were served by Judy Bultemeier and Sherril Heckman to conclude the meeting. The next meeting will be held April 2 at the Friendheim Lutheran school. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the meeting scheduled for March 5 was not helcl.

Huntington Mon To Speak To Rotarians J. L. Brenn. president of Huntington Laboratories, will be the guest speaker at the weekly dinner meeting of the Decatur Rotary club Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Youth and Community Center. Brenn, a former Rotary district governor, will speak on the Caribbean area, which he visited recently. Present New Charter For Monroe Scouts A carry-in supper was held at the Monroe Methodist church Saturday evening for the Scouts and their parents when the new charter was presented. Boy Scout troop 72 and the Cub Scout pack 1072 are one year old. There are 18 Cub Scouts and 21 Boy Scouts. Merit badges were distributed and new officers named. Ed Bishop, of Fort Wayne, district officer, and wife, and Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Everhart of Decatur, were guests. Everhart showed moving pictures of a boys’ outing through the west. Charles Workinger is the new Institutional representative and. the Scouts are sponsored by the Monroe Methodist church. Army To Strengthen Forces In Pacific WASHINGTON <UPD — The Army announced today that It will strengthen ite Pacific forces by sending a battle group of 2.000 paratroopers and full equipment to Okinawa In June. The move is intended to give Adm Harry D Felt. US Pacific commander, the means for a • more flexible response’’ to any aggressive action in the western Pacific, the Army said. The Army will draw the battle group from ite famed 82nd Airborne Division at Ft Bragg. N. C..' and will assign it to the 25th Infantry Division which has beadquarters in Hawaii. The division s other four bottle groups will remain in Hawaii with the newly assignd unit as a forward, everrcady element. The Army cited no specific reason or development for the unexpected move. It reversed a trend dating to the end of the Korean War under which the Army has progressively reduced ana withdrawn its forces in the western Pacific. Name Omitted From Auto Wreck Story The name of Marvin Alverson, 16, brother of Sharon McMillen, was unintentionally omitted from the list of persons injured in an automobile-truck collision Monday night. Alverson, a passenger, together with his sister, in the car driven by Clarence L. Boring, was treated for head injuries at the Adams county memorial hospital and released.

Speech Class Will Hold Dance Friday Speech pupils at Decatur high school will forego standing at the podium for at least one night when they sponsor a dance at the Decatur Youth and Community Center Friday. ™ , Tickets are on sale for 30 cents, and may be purchased from any speech class enrollee or from speech instructor Deane T. Dorwin. The evening’s fare starts at 8:30 p.m. and will continue until 11:30 p.m. The tie-in with April Fool’s Day was not elaborated on by Joe Smith, who will be master of ceremonies for the event. A secret code-H.F.S.C.M.-will be decoded for all those attending the dance. Smith, a senior of DHS, said that prizes would also be given away. A large attendance is expected by the class and all teenagers in the Decatur area are asked to partake of the fun and frivolity planned by the speech class. Several surprises will be the feature of the intermission program, and are expected to add to the overall merriment of the affair.
