Aa it is, Ralph's eight year* on the air gives him the distinction of having the longestrunning program In a single time slot in the net’* history—a fact tn which he takes great pride. Despite the formal dignity Ralph exudes on his show, he is not above a sly trick on the people who kid "This Is Your Life." Less than two weeks ago come-dian-writer Carl Reiner kiddingly speculated that Ralph would appear on the Dinah Shore Show, on wfifch he was appearing, to do a program on his ißeiner's* life Several times he told Dinah, "I know Ralph is hiding in the wings somewhere. I've brought all my relatives out here. I’m ready.” Ralph happened to be watching the show. "I decided to get even with him," Edwards grinned. "So on last week's Dinah show I appeared near the end of the program and announced that this was. indeed, his life. The show can be seen Wednesday night "It was the shortest notice my staff ever had.” Ralph went on. "We did all the research and background material in recordj time. He thought it was a gag I again. But this time we nailed j him beautifully. We even returned j to Dinah's stage and used her studio audience for our show.”
