Emblem Club Organized In Decatur During 1949
The Decatur Emblem club. 172. was granted its charter in 1949 with approximately 50 members. Mrs. George Laurent was the first president of the organization, and succeeding presidents are as follows: Mrs. H. R. Frey. Mrs Bernard Meyers. Mrs. Francis Howell, Mrs. Dale Death, Mrs. Oran Schultz. Mrs. Harry James and Mrs. Carl Baxter. Mrs. James Baker is currently serving as president. Mrs. Baxter, of the local club, was named by the supreme president of Emblem clubs to serve this district as supreme district deputy for this year. The name “Emblem" signifies the flag of the United States of America, cherished by the Emblem clubs and Elks lodges as a priceless possession and the groundwork of the organizations.

One of the features of the Emblem club’s participation in the Elks home dedication this weekend will be a card party for all Elks ladies Friday afternoon, starting at 2 o’clock. Prizes will be awarded for the various games and a light lunch will be served. Ballots Are Printed For Utility Election A total of 5.000 ballots, plus 500 sample ballots, were printed Monday at the Decatur Daily Democrat for the city election April 26 on the question of selling the city electric utility. A total of 4,670 ballots were printed for the 11 precincts, and 330 ballots were printed for absent voters and extras. The county election board, including Cal E. Peterson, Mrs. Elmer Beer, and Richard Lewton, and Mrs. Laura Bosse, city clerk-treasurer, supervised the printing by O. K. Baker, job printer. Ballots by precinct, were: 1-A, 470: LB. 370; 1-C, 370: LD, 480; 2-A, 540; 2-B, 360 ; 2-C, 320; 3-A, 540 r -3-B, 480 ; 3-C, 340; and Decatur-Root, 400.

The speakers will treat such subjects as the trustee’s function and responsibility. the trustee’s responsibility for patient care, and the trustee and administrator relations at the morning session beginning at 9:30 <CDT). The afternoon session, starting at 2 o clock following a luncheon, will feature a panel discussion. The Northeastern Indiana council of the IRA embraces hospitals in 10 counties, including Adams, Allen. DeKalb, Huntington. Kosciusko. Lagrange. Noble, Steuben. Wells and Whitley. Towns and cities outside the council area sending delegations to the meeting include Indianapolis. Peru, Lafayette, Richmond. Lebanon, Greensburg. Rochester. Marion, Greenfield and Bremen.
