Culottes Popular For Casual Wear Hr GAY PAULEY I PI Hamrn'a Kditer NEW YORK <UPt' — Cukitte* have become the big brreche* of pant* fashion*. Thrr. year* ago they fluttered on the fashion »ccnc. first to toungewear, a* * subatitute or replacement for the tight, tapered trouser* which some of us women found both uncomfortable and ungraceful for sitting. Today, it's a rare collection of summer *|»>rtswcur or loungewear without some variation of the loose- legged trouser which looks dike a skirt Even "name" design* r> of dresses, suit* and costumes are on a pants kick. Robert Rosenfeld, a loungewcar manufacturer, claim* some of the credit for resurgence of a style which was popular in the 1930 s "I’ve had some culottes every season for the last 15 years.” said Rosenfeld, "but it was just about three years ago they really began to catch on." Manufacturer Richard Cole believes the divided skirt’s popularity stems from our increasingly casual way of living. "It’s comfortable.” he said, "and it's be-: coming for the patio, for pool-side, for getting from boat to dock. I even for the country club.” The variety of divided skirts range from the long-flared athome clothes in luxurious fabrics to sportswear including swim and play suits. Designer Jeanne Campbell showed sports dresses with divided skirt and harem hemline. Designer Pembroke Squires did playsuits in checked gingham with dropped waistline, low cut back, and giant pockets on the split skirt. Adele Simpson showed knickers in pink and white printed silk; and ankle length culottes with black linen top and black and white printed cotton skirt. Most were bare back with a halter front. Revival Services At Bobo Methodist The revival which has drawn an attendance of more than 3.000 during the past five weeks is at the Bobo Methodist church, not the Salem Methodist church, as erroneously reported in Tuesday s Decatur Daily Democrat. The Rev. Roy Johnson, of Spencerville, 0., is bringing the message to the large (crowds of people who have been attending the services in the St. Mary’s township community of Bobo. This is the longest and most successful revival ever staged by the Bobo church.

Five Os Indiana's Congressmen File INDIANAPOLIS <UPl>—Five of Indiana's 11 congressmen, including House minority leader Charles A Halleck, officially entered the May 3 primaries Tuesday in the opening day for filing declarations of candidacy. It was a busy day at Secretary of State John Walsh's office, with 56 persons filing for congressional, legislative and judicial offices Among the 56 were 12 seeking congressional seats, including the five incumbents and seven other hopefuls. Only four of the 12 were Republicans. Halleck filed his declaration in person, the first time he has done so since he went to Congress from the 2nd District in 1935 He stopped here enroute to Washington from Peoria. 111., where he spoke the night before. Other congressmen who filed were Rep John Brademas <D--3rd Bep. J. Edward Roush <D--sth 1. Rep. Earl Hogan <D-9th>, and Rep Joseph Barr tD-llth). Other congressional candidates were Willis E. Himelick. Summitville, in the 10th District Democratic primary; Robelrt J Milis, Petersburg, in the Bth District Republican primary: Eugene Calloway, Scottsburg, in the 9th District Republican primary: Don C McCullough. Hagerstown, and Jennet Chance. Centerville, in the 10th District Democratic primary, and Joe Rhodes. Centerville, in the 10th District Republican primary. , , Walsh's office listed the candidates numerically as they filed. He left No. 13 vacant because he said he thought nobody would want the unlucky number. But Howard L. Black of North Vernon later asked for that position on the list to run as a Republican for joint representative from Jennings and Decatur Black said he was born on the 13th day of the month and his auto license number is *l3 and he considers that a lucky number. The filing was resumed today and will continue through March 24.
