During testimony Tuesday. the prosecution introduced a tape recording of Brown's statement to Sheriff James McCullough immediately after the shooting. Brown was quoted as saying that J rone had threatened his life and "it was either him or me.*' Also testifying was Miss Yerkes She said Brown had often asked her for dates but that she had refused him. The night of the shooting. Miss Yerkes said. Brown approached Jenne and fired the gun directly at him. Defense attorneys began presenting their evidence today before Judge Robert Hyatt and a jury of 11 men and a woman.
