(UPD — A fire which destroyed the 88-year-old LaGrange County Jail Thursday night “definitely was not a case of arson.*’ a representative of the state fire marshal's office said Friday night. Howard Boegaholtz, Indianapolis, said the blaze was touched off by a short circuit in an electrical switch box. LaGrange fire chief Paul Schrock, who at first blamed the fire on an arsonist, said he agreed with Boehaholtz that the fire was an accident.

Three Autos Involved In Wreck Here Today A three-car mishap on the 700 block on Monroe street this morning caused $725 in total damages, but no one was injured, according to a city police report. A car driven by Larry Kaye Andrews, 18. of route 2. Decatur, rammed into the rear of a car driven by Miss Rosemary Spangler. of route 2. Decatur, sending the Spangler car skidding across the wet and slippery street into a parked car owned by Gerald Foreman of Monroe. Damage to the Andrews car was $225, S3OO to the Spangler car. and S2OO to the Foreman machine. Berne Home Gutted By Fire Thursday The Coy Ellis home in Berne was gutted by fire early Thursday afternoon, with most of the possessions of the family destroyed. Ellis is employed by the Adams county Farm Bureau. The home belonged to Daniel Morand for a number of years and was being sold on a contract basis to Thelma Yoder. »
